October 22, 200916 yr aluminum is spiffier than plastic They are both aluminium - that's my guess anyway. There's no way they can do the unibody process with polycarbonate. They are just coating it with shiny whiteness.
October 23, 200916 yr I like the corporate overlords at the back of the line keeping on eye on who's cheering. And who's not.
October 23, 200916 yr Author Heh. The old "I'm a PC, I'm a Mac" ads have been tired for a while, but they've come up with just the right one-two combo for the Windows 7 launch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiU1Gu14xG0
October 23, 200916 yr Pretty good. Disparaging, though, which is always risky in competitive advertising.
October 23, 200916 yr Author The full teardown is here. Good news is that, as long as you're willing to swallow hard and pull that glass front off, swapping out the hard drive looks trivial compared to the current generation.

October 28, 200916 yr Fuck it, I'm getting a Core i7 27". My MacBook Pro is now 3 years old and 3GB of RAM just doesn't cut it.
October 28, 200916 yr Author Hell yeah! I played with the new 3.06 C2D the other day and that was pretty snappy with 4GB of RAM. Put 8GB in the i7 machine and go to town. Will say that you'll probably want a fair bit of wall clearance behind the screen for air circulation, as the Apple Store iMacs were pumping out the heat pretty impressively. The whole aluminium back panel seems to act as a big radiator.
