May 9, 201016 yr I'm pretty sure all of the Aleph amps would handle the Quads well. The Firstwatt would also be a good option and should sound great (not that I know since mine is basically an oven at this stage ).
May 12, 201016 yr These 12Ls are fucking gigantic. Like their sound?* simile or question? you be the judge, or lawyer
May 12, 201016 yr They're physically much larger than I had anticipated. And that's going to be a problem. Haven't hooked them up yet.
May 12, 201016 yr Why is there particular excitement over the '63's and not their newer counterparts? Is it just a price/DIY kind of thing? After all the expense of getting a pair of 63's in fully working condition, it doesn't seem that they're much cheaper than the somewhat more reliable later models.
May 12, 201016 yr They're physically much larger than I had anticipated. And that's going to be a problem. Haven't hooked them up yet. Well gee, I guess you'll have to send them to me. I'll send along my Consonance integrated and my smaller dual 5 1/4 woofered Emotiva monitors.

May 12, 201016 yr That is why they spent such a short time on my desk before moving on. FFFFUUUUU. I'm so bad with dimensions. The 9Ls are obviously better for me. But they are gotdam expensive in comparison. We'll see, I'll hook these up tonight to confirm they work (they are beautiful, btw), then determine if they stay at home, go to work, or go to someone else.
May 12, 201016 yr I suggest using your friendly audio gear storage facility across the river until you decide what to do with them forget about them.

They do seem big at first but you get used to them.

Seriously, I may be interested if you decide to sell them. I've been planning on getting a pair for a while now. Timing sucks a little due to CJ, but I may still be able to swing it. Not that it really matters to me but what's the veneer/finish? Dinny have you considered the Wharfdale 8.1 active? It's plain Jane looking by comparison, but I hear the value is pretty good. May 13, 201016 yr Oh thanks for looking out for me Colin. I would love to hold on to Dinny's _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ And let the FIFY party begin !

Price mostly, I can't refurb the panels myself. What else is in that $1500-2500 (used) ballpark, ESL-988?
May 13, 201016 yr I thought my 12L's were pretty large too, but after setting them on my headroom desktop stands, it doesn't really matter. So maybe you just need the right stands?
May 13, 201016 yr Are the 12Ls really that big? They don't look so large in the pics, but I guess I have no real idea of scale.
May 13, 201016 yr Just exactly how big is 12 x 8 x 14 inches? Dimensions (LxWxH) 355 x 205 x 253 mm, perhaps ...
May 13, 201016 yr I dunno, it doesnt seem that big, just looking at the dimensions. Maybe it is more imposing sitting on one's desk.
