April 6, 201016 yr comment_341854 I saw GoodReader but decided to go with ReaddleDocs because it looked a little nicer. Since GR is only $0.99, I will probably buy it to see which I like better. Report
April 6, 201016 yr comment_341868 I just picked up Good Reader as well. I'd be interested to hear how the two compare. Report
April 6, 201016 yr comment_341876 I use Air Sharing with my iPhone. It lets you mount the device as an external drive on your Mac for file transfer etc. And includes document viewing capabilities. There's an iPad app already, but the early reviews suggest it's a bit rough. Report
April 6, 201016 yr comment_341886 Sad: ughh. I think I may have to design an app for this for one of our societies. Because going to the website for the same content would be to obvious. Happy: I hope I get to purchase one w/ my business card. Report

April 8, 201016 yr comment_342630 Anyone know a good text editor for the ipad, like iaquamacs or something? Edited April 8, 201016 yr by shellylh Report
April 8, 201016 yr comment_342663 oooooh. thanks! hopefully a CF reader comes out for iPad. the 12" MBP is too heavy to carry around, but an iPad would be a perfect fit in my camera bag. I think the camera connection kit includes a cf reader. Report
April 8, 201016 yr comment_342666 I think it has two dongles. One with a SD card reader and the other with a USB Jack so you can hook your camera directly to the iPad via USB. iPad Camera Connection Kit - Apple Store (U.S.) Report
April 8, 201016 yr comment_342673 hmmmm ... seems one could attach a cf card reader via the usb port and be good to go, no? Since we're talking picture storage here, I love the Photobucket app - lets me get to any of my Photobucket albums as well as anyone's public photos and display them. Beats taking up gobs of storage on the iPad, and performance over wireless is good. I imagine flickr and others may be close behind. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342679 Not sure if I dare try PvZ on the iPad. Please tell me you've tried it and that it is brilliant. Report

April 9, 201016 yr comment_342691 Thanks to Smeggy I have teleport up and running. Best app so far. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342695 I agree Mike. I bought 3 difference VNC apps and this is how I rank them: iTeleport > Desktop Connect >> iSSH (for VNC) The iSSH is very nice for SSH though and I am very happy with that part of the program. It is slightly easier to connect using Desktop Connect than iTeleport but once connected, iTeleport seems to work a little better. As for File Managing software, I decided to get GoodReader in addition to ReaddleDocs. My ranking: ReaddleDocs >>>> GoodReader I was able to easily upload a large directory of pdfs with ReaddleDocs via Wifi. I still haven't been able to upload more than a file at a time with GoodReader. I think one may be able to do this but I gave up and deleted GoodReader before I figured it out. I also didn't like the looks of GoodReader. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342700 The issh developer is very responsive, and the ability to do vnc over an ssh tunnel is a significant security benefit. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342712 Dan: I am trying to use the down arrow in issh (key pie menu). I noticed that it was set to 0x0 initially, I changed it to 0xff54 but it won't save as that and goes back to 0x0. Do you know how to fix this. I geel like I am being really stupid. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342713 there's a google group for support, ask iSSH/iX11 | Google Groups I don't use the ssh client much so far, just the vnc interface. But the developer posts a LOT. He's very receptive to questions. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342717 you know what would be cool? if Aperture came to the iPad. combine it with a good card reader, and that would be a killer combo. Yeah, a card reader would be good. I still have a couple of decks from my grad school days. Of course, I'd also need a SNOBOL 4 interpreter to run them. Report
April 9, 201016 yr comment_342735 The update from yesterday to issh fixes a key pie issue. You should update and try it. Report
