March 4, 201511 yr Have you heard his solo work, Al? If you haven't, it's worth a shot, especially the Self-Record album. I recently found out that Vernon has a second band, called Volcano Choir. It's pretty great as well – the last album, Repave, in particular. Have a listen if you haven't so far!
March 4, 201511 yr Say Lou Lou - Lucid Dreaming Dreamy Electro-Pop from the daughters of the Church's Steve Kilbey. Not too bad.....a bit moodier than your standard pop, maybe some of dad's influence?
March 4, 201511 yr Author How do you like the album, Stretch? Without Jon King singing it hardly seems like Gang of Four. Very glad I finally saw them a few years ago when he was still in the band. Thanks for the recs, Leonardo.

March 7, 201511 yr metallica - black album some high rez version, think it is a vinyl rip. sounds amazing
March 10, 201511 yr New Sister Machine Gun EP -- I really love this kind of music, "hard pop" I call it, but there's more to it than that -- the combination of electric guitars and synthesizers is just my cup of tea. And the production has to be of a sort. Stabbing Westward, God Lives Underwater, Curve, Garbage, Gravity Kills, etc. And this one doesn't suck. Also, a 24/96 of Steven Wilson's Hand. Cannot. Erase. -- this is sublime, I really think his songcraft is at an all time peak, and I can really feel the inspiration that he got from the story, because it feels like he wants to convey something that's not his, putting it before himself. Even the solos seem perfectly placed, in service to the song over just wankynoodlecraft.
March 10, 201511 yr San Fermin -- S/T Really looking forward to the next album. New stuff sounds great!
March 11, 201511 yr ripped cd layer from the Weezer Blue MFSL SACD that arrived today. on the one hand, i think it's quieter. on the other, it may be brighter. some of the miked string picking sounded wonky, but now i can't remember if it's always been like that. doubt it though, since it stood out. March 12, 201511 yr Joe Jackson -- albums Look Sharp! through Laughter and Lust skipping Will Power because I'm more interested in his song-oriented stuff right now. Not sure about the soundtracks, will see when I get to them. On Tidal.
March 12, 201511 yr Punch Brothers -- The Phosphorescent BluesGood stuff. The banjo player, Noam, is the son of my wife's former colleague at Cook County Hospital Ambulatory Care. He's a nice, though slightly neurotic and obsessive Jewish guy who used to drive his son across town to the Chicago Old Town School of Folk Music for banjo lessons. He would also drive him all over the state while his son won all kinds of banjo playing contests and awards. Some say he's the best banjo player in the world. Edited March 12, 201511 yr by jvlgato
March 12, 201511 yr ^^^ Have it but haven't yet listened, will need to do so soon. I've been on female vox/poppy kick recently: The Vespers - Sisters And Brothers Susanne Sundfor - 10 Love Songs Kirsty MacColl - All I Ever Wanted (still mourn her loss every time I hear a song by her!)
March 12, 201511 yr Taking a detour from Joe Jackson to listen to Public Service Broadcasting's The Race for Space -- which is kind of proggy, sample laden, space rock. "Valentina" is beautifully tranquil.
