Parasound has amazing Customer Service. After a google search I was unable to find a schematic for my Parasound DAC. Failing that, this past Saturday, I sent an email to their service department. Within minutes Richard replied that he would look when he got into the office on Monday. I was surprised at the quick response, and on a Saturday at that. Today, Sunday, I received an email from Tony with the schematic attached. How's that for customer service?

Okay after finding this place just recently, and then jumping back and forth to the other forum (HF), I am starting to loose patience with the other place. Does any of those fuckers know how to use the search function. Surely by now everybody ought to fucking have a pretty good idea of what the "best closed headphone under $100" is, or even the "best portable amp under $150" is.

  5. http://usat.ly/1cInyhN Bummed - he wasn't the greatest actor, but he had heart. I'll miss him. "Paul Walker, one of the main stars of the popular Fast and Furious action-movie franchise, was killed on Saturday in a car accident in Santa Clarita, Calif. The actor's representative, Ame Van Iden, confirmed his death to USA TODAY. He was 40. Walker had returned home for the holidays from the Atlanta set of Fast and Furious 7 and was scheduled to return next week. The California native appeared in all but one of the Fast and Furious movies, starring as Brian O'Conner opposite Vin Diesel. Other movie credits include Varsity Blues, Eight Below, Takers and the upcoming…

Seems a bit more common in the audio world than elsewhere in the trading universe. I'm against it because if paypal catches you (read: if you get reported) they'll warn you, then shutdown your account, as it's against the Paypal terms of service to charge extra to accept it. Discuss

So since I'm in college, on a extremely limited fund of money, I tend to download music when I'm searching for new things to listen to. I saw that there was Pedro's BTMusic Tracker that has everything in flac, which is great, but you need to get invited to join. Is anyone on this forum who has an account there, and if so, would you be willing to send me a invitation? Thanks, Dave

  8. The Pepsi Refresh Project (Pepsi) is giving away millions of dollars to fund great ideas. Grants are awarded to any idea that makes it to the top ten by receiving the most votes. The non-profit organization I am voting for and supporting all this month is the I Am Innocent preventative program, which is in the running for $50K – they are dedicated to preventing wrongful convictions through education, prevention, and reform. You can also help them get the most votes! Here's how it works: Voting has begun and will continue until January 31, 2010. Voting will remain open every day through the month of January at which time the top 10 vote getters will be awarded…

I'm curious - how many of you here have perfect pitch? For those who don't know, perfect pitch or absolute pitch is the ability to recognize a note that's being played without any reference. I don't have it personally and it's something that's been bugging me for a while... I mean, I listen to music everyday, I've been playing music since a very young age, both alone and in orchestras/harmonies, so I've been surrounded by music for as long as I can remember, but I still can't identify notes by ear. Some people have this ability naturally, others don't and scientifics still don't have solid evidences about the cause of this.

  10. I need to get a handle on my family's spending so I have started looking at software to help with budgeting and tracking spending. The 2 that I am looking at: Mint is web based and looks like it might be OK. YNAB You Need a Budget is a software program that looks good as well. Anyone have experience with either of these? Any other recommendations?

  13. All, The Photobucket site has been crap for years. Now they want something like $400 / year for a user to post pics on a third party site (i.e. embed photos). If the site wasn't absolute crap, I might have given this more than a seconds' worth of thought. Since that's not the case, figured I'd ask here if there's a smarter way to do this. Thanks in advance. HS

It is with great pleasure I bring you one of my most ambitious projects, Photography in Medicine. The idea was born of some random discussions my advisor and I had over the summer and after incessantly annoying, emailing and calling a lot of people, it has finally come to fruition. You can read more about it at www.photographyinmedicine.org. Chris Evert Children’s Hospital has graciously allowed full access to their general pediatric, pediatric oncology and pediatric ICU wards where we will give the admitted children cameras and go around with them taking pictures of whatever they find interesting. The hospital plans on displaying the images in their main lobby in Mar…

So I was writing a review of a new pen I bought over at the Fountain Pen Network, and the wood colored ebonite inspired me to take some pics of it in juxtaposition to my RS-1. I thought I'd share. Kind of a pipe dream, but it would be cool to see ebonite used in a headphone design, even though it would be both pointless and impractical. The pen is a Bexley Deluxe II in Antique Cream.

Hey guys, recently my pillow had "pancaked" on me. So I'm in the market for some new pillows. When I visited SEARS, I was amazed on the type of pillows that are out on the market now. So I'm a bit confused. Is there anyone out there that can help me? My guidelines are: Made of materials that won't heat up, I live in Hawaii, it's already warm Available from bricks and mortar, since I don't have a paypal (sears?) Durable, this is a important aspect Not too expensive maybe $25 a pillow price range? If it helps, I'm a chest/side sleeper. Some of the things I saw were: Egyptian Cotton Memory Foam Puff ball stuffing Ones that help you with posture, both chest…

Does anyone have a guide that one could use to tell apart real and pirated CDs? Yesterday I received an Arcturus disc from ebay. The seller has 80+ positive feedbacks, and most recently (before I won this auction) got a negative from a buyer saying the CD was a fake. It was for an import CD. Everything from the booklet, back insert/inside insert makes it look authentic. Even the front of the CD looks authentic. Then I look at the matrix info on the underside of the CD and it says Tocano 2001 DK 47169, IFPI LP51 and then a barcode. Googling Tocano brings up: http://www.hugohein.com/other/complete.main/specs.tocano.htm I'm going to rip it, and then look at the s…

PJ's Magick Kingdom Adventure, OR the big TGiving Disney World Trip Catching my connecting flight in Hotlanta Joja atm. Saw one of these pay terminals and thought I'd get on to say hello! The metal keyboard on this bitch is badass, I want to have stainless keys at my home. The big news is I got to test out my ER4P on the flight up, and it was a fantastic experience! I listened to several dead jams and was very impressed at the sound. Really everything was in its right place, PERFECT highs, nice bass, neutral mids. All in all the whole shuffle -> er4p experience was strongly reminiscent of the HP2 out of a home amp, only with less detail, more soundstage smearing…

My father, Lt Col. Kenneth Mueller (I'm actually the II), passed away today at 3:15 PDT. He almost made his 90th birthday, which is May 29. He had a great life, cheated death many times and died quietly at home, as was his wish. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I would just like to ask HCers to send some good thoughts his way and for the drinkers to drink something in his honor. Thanks. See you at CanJam.

Well - I finally finished unpacking last night and tonight came the sorting and rearranging of stuff. One problem - this morning - I woke up with very bad back pain. I tried the hot tub with some advil for pain but it is still there. Any thoughts on how to get it to go away beside going to a chiropractor?

Hey- My good friend icculus514 just joined up recently. He is pretty new to the world of audiophilia but he loves it and is learning quickly. We've seen phish a shit ton together and have had lots of very long and very disturbing conversations in cars at night. He's reading over at HF a lot and trying to learn the ropes, and I'm doing my best to help him sift through the tomfoolery. He's heard lots of stories about this place (which is really hard to describe to someone with no context) and doesn't want to come off like an asshat and end up dead in a basement. However he has met reksy (back in fall 09) and survived unscathed so I think it's cool. He hasn't posted…
