Tomorrow starting at approximately 9PM EST I will be performing a major upgrade of the forum software. The new version is a complete rewrite of the forum software from the ground up, so there are many, many changes to it. Due to this the upgrade itself will possibly take several hours during which time the forums will be inaccessible. Once the upgrade is done there are several background tasks that must finish to restore fully functionality of the site. These tasks could take anywhere from 24-48 hours to complete. During that time the following features will be not function correctly: search, attachments, embedded videos, and some images, etc. The tapatalk app and the dark theme will also not be available during that time period. I'll update this thread once the work begins to keep everyone updated on the progress of everything. Thanks Your Friendly Neighborhood Admin5 points

The lady's veggie burger. My proper meal of ribs. New place from the owners of two of my 5 faves places in town, including my fav. This place I have been waiting for for 5 months, and I had stupid high expectations. It exceeded them, somehow. This is my new favorite place in Chattanooga, and if anyone swings through town I am taking them here. These are easily the best ribs I have ever had in my life. I've been to opening night at a few places in town and this was by far the best. Oh, we had an appetizer. Pickled veggies, deviled eggs, pralines (I think)_ and cheese sticks (basically goldfish.) I despise veggies but tried everything and was OK with some. Even the veggie burger with chipotle mayo was good. If you know how much I despise mayo and veggies you will realize how ridiculous it is that I tried this, much less liked it. Where is the drunk thread again? Also, why am I typing on my phone whilst sitting at a computer. **BRENT**3 points

Rest assured this level of hard work and commitment to better the community would never happen on my forum. Thanks Todd!3 points

Took the day off to setup the garage and unbox all my bike crap. Also attempted to fix a HVAC vent that had low flow with a booster fan but came away from Home Depot only with an elbow that I hoped would at least help after learning of the wiring complexity. When I went to put in the elbow I realized the idiot installers had attached it to the main trunk with a damper that they left mostly shut. Flows much better now and cost me $6.2 points

Showed up to work at noon, ate a meatball sandwich. Sometimes there's nothing like a meatball sandwich.2 points

yeah it used to use one of those free forum software hosting sites, then I changed it to a dial up BBS with lots of gifs and warez, now it is a literal bulletin board with just pictures of my dogs and a recipe for mexican rice tacked up there. pretty cool though.2 points

That reminds me, I need to haul my ass into the attic and replace a few feet of heater ducting. Unfortunately, I was the idiot that leaned on a section and smushed it down an inch or so. Since it's on an end run, that extra bit of resistance reduces the flow by 50% or so. Maybe I'll wait for a super hot day so I'll learn my lesson!1 point

Generally happy. Have cancelled Qobuz and Spotify, keeping TIDAL for the desktop. Some over-curation going on, one playlist I came across this evening: "Third-Wave Ska Songs About Food."1 point

I did some more listening last night, this time through the coax input and I think something may be wrong with this particular Yggy. I A/B'ed it with the Oppo and something just sounds off. I am going to contact Schiit and see about sending it in for them to take a look at.1 point

Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit Over and over again. "Black Lake Niðstång" rocks my world. Methinks Marrow of the Spirit is vastly underrated.1 point

I think gear that gives you a "wow" moment, or that impresses at meets over the din, tends to overemphasize something and become fatiguing over time. The best gear is the stuff that falls into the background and doesn't get in the way.1 point

EDIT: I am 90% sure the Yggy DAC I had at the time was not functioning properly, so I've struck my prior impressions. Hmmm.... So first impression is positive, but a bit of a mixed bag. The Yggy certainly sounds different than the Oppo, but I can't say it blew me away in quite the same way as it has others. Both the Yggy and the Oppo seem like competent DACs with different flavors. The main impression after my first night of listening was that the Yggy seems to be fatter down low and thinner (more natural?) up top than the Oppo, but that I'm not sure those differences play to the strengths of the 009s. There has been a ton of fuss about leaving the Yggy on continuously, so I figure a two week-ish audition is in order before I make a decision on whether to keep it. I'll leave her on the entire time and see if the sound changes, though I am extremely skeptical. I wish I had had a "WOW!" moment like so many others have seemed to. Is it possible this particular Yggy is a lemon? Or maybe all DACs really do sound similar. -- Other random notes: The Oppo works great as a network transport to feed PCM to the Yggy from my network shared drive, even if it is extreme overkill in that role. I didn't have a spare coax cable so I have the Oppo and Yggy connected via toslink. The only files that I haven't been able to play are 24/192 Flacs. Whether its the Oppo, Yggy or the toslink cable that is causing the issue, 24/192 files will not play unless I convert the Oppo converts them down to 24/96. I'll swing by worst-buy on my way home and grab a coax cable to see whether the toslink is at fault. I can confirm that the Oppo WILL NOT stream any audio from physical SACDs, even when it is set to convert DSD to PCM. The Oppo will however convert and play DSD files saved on my network drive. -- That is it for now. More impressions to come in a week or so.1 point

Many users have compared them but basically all the horrible upper midrange/lower treble etch and edge are mostly gone. It does creep up from time to time when the phones are being pushed hard so they haven't completely eliminated the issue. This has cleaned up other parts of the spectrum too so they've gone from a set I wouldn't touch to an enjoyable headphone. The 007Mk2 is still a better headphone in every way though.1 point
