  1. It is a Ravenswood (DSHA4) power amp for headphones. We did it this way as Adam already has a preamp, so there is not much sense in doubling up on them. Here's another one in a powder coat case.

  2. Damn, Doug! The wood came out AMAZING! This thing is gorgeous! I'll leave it to Doug to describe what the heck it is I just bought. Time to plug her in!

  4. I just wanted to add that Doug let me build one of these (populating the PCB, only) and I've been listening to it for the last few weeks. Basically, I begged him because showing off the T3 at headphone meets was not working well with the DACs I had. I needed something Summit-Fi as a source, but didn't have it. The Walnut v5 solved the situation in spades. Before anyone asks - I would not recommend it as anything but a custom build from Doug. I built it myself, but it took weeks of preparation. I got two new pairs of $45 tweezers, a hot-air re-work station and other tools, too. I took several days to practice on some of my scrap Beezar DACs. I still made mistakes when I attacked the Walnut. I finally got it working, but I'd have to say it was the most challenging build I've ever done, bar none. Again, I'm just talking about the PCB. Anyway, the sound is absolutely exquisite using a T3 and HD800. I've never experienced sound at this level before and actually owned it. Thank you, Doug!

  6. A little photo tour of last month's SIngapore trip, some of you may have seen it on Facebook, but if not, here it is! Shot with a combination of Sony A6000 16-50/3.5-5.6 and Samyang 12/2.0, with a few cameos from RAW processed out of my LG V10.

  8. Thanks to Grahame I new what apps to use to get my itunes music to work on android, even found an app to sync directly from itunes. Playing music flawlessly now. One thing I did notice about the shatterproof screen... several of the display phones had scratches or dents on the screen. So I got them to toss in one of the glass screen protectors.

  14. I just saw a commercial for an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M -- immune to magnetic fields in excess of 15,000 Gauss. The one in the commercial didn't look like the one in the attached link, it looked more along the lines of the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M "Chocolate" -- maybe I saw the end of a clip on that one and they started in on the next? I don't know. I'd wear that.

  15. Drove the Audi for the first time in, I think, 10 weeks today to get the oil changed. Sitting in traffic all morning and afternoon is a great way to enjoy a sports sedan. Did see this at REI when I went to pick up another rooftop bike carrier for the trip to Chicago. Still really want one of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. I met some of these guys on the 70K cruise in 2015, was a co-promoter of a show they played in Winnipeg, and then saw them at the SoCal Pleasure Faire (renaissance fair) a year ago. I got good and drunk with them again on 70K last month, and helped with the kickstarter of their upcoming album (I have the pre-release now - it is awesome!). Los Angeles-based acoustic pirate-themed metal. Their live shows are something else.

  19. I use two cookie racks. One to get the bacon up off of the baking sheet, and then another, turned over, setting on top of the bacon, to keep it flat.

  23. Thanks all for the advice but I've decided on the ST even if the RS is a superior car. If I really start making cars a "hobby" then I can justify paying $25+k more when I replace it in a few years but right now that's not guaranteed. Also we have a 10 year anniversary coming up next year and I want a nice watch and the ability to buy my wife one too. (Also add a 2nd bathroom to the lake house) I took the ST out over the weekend and had a good time. Nothing about it drove me nuts. Though the backseat room is an issue but I don't expect to keep it long enough for that to be an issue. Panty-waist here. Hopefully I can re-earn what little cred I had here through other feats of purchasing in the near future in the watches thread. I also received separate legal counsel from my in-house counsel. Does that mean I will not be perma-banned? I think the 2016 ST is quite a looker too: The ST also has the advantage that it's a known quantity in both SCCA Rallycross and Autocross and is competitive in both classes. In closing while I am compromising which isn't allowed here I hope you all can forgive me.
