  1. I think if you go up to 100$ then the shipping is free. Something to think about... That is a good question as most of the fiddling I did to the Carbon circuit after the common release was to make it work better with the 009. Now this isn't the idiotic audiophile notion of tuning (i.e. put in some different parts) but rather seeing what actually enhances the performance of the transducer. The end result is the best I've heard the 009's but they will never be my go to set. They are just too fucked to be ever taken seriously but the amp does help a lot. Another point of reference are the almost 10 people who own a Carbon and a BHSE. All of them prefer the Carbon with the 009 and that makes perfect sense from a technical point of view. One of them even recently got a brand new BHSE and asked me what he should do with it...the Carbon was much better. Most of this is due to the superior high frequency driving potential. This was a large part of the design process but it naturally works just as well for the 007's. More HF power means they aren't as dark as they used to be. The BHSE will roll off a bit so this is a change to the better.

  3. Vice-presidential nominee Mike Pence's daughter casts no reflection. What could possibly go wrong? Members of Orlando's Shakespeare Theater are building "angel" costumes like these to block Westboro Baptist Church members at memorials for the Pulse shooting victims. What could possibly go wrong? 4. Turns out the damage was a bit more severe than a bad cable. They could still be repaired for less than the cost of a new pair, but not enough less that it seemed worth it. So new Etys are on the way. Woo Hoo?

  6. Still working with my non-birth year starter... I am baking two loaves - twice a week these days - and sharing at work. -- This is one I liked - and had good results. Oat Porridge AP - 600g 50% Whole - 300g 25% Oat - 300g 25% H20 - 950g 79% Salt - 29g Oat Porridge 600g Bake was @500 covered for 15 Minutes @500 uncovered for 10 (forgot to turn oven down) @450 for 5 @450 on oven rack for 25% They were heavy and big suckers.. But very nice and the bake was good. Crust was nice and crisp - crumb was moist (expected for porridge loaf), but not too sticky. There was a lovely sweetness on the palate - rest of the nuttiness and oatiness are light but nice. bread pics -

  9. What the 009's need is power delivery in the top end, they don't need amps that just gloss over the top end.

  11. I've mentioned the reasons why I'm getting a Carbon to use as well as the BHSE, but another reason is after hearing one of the recent 007mk2's, I plan on getting one of those, or at least I'm going to find out if Stax can do something I've also mentioned. Now if I'd known when getting the K-01 ( 2011 ) what I know now, I would've had the money to get both a Carbon and 007 because I wouldn't have bought that Esoteric, at the time getting that K-01 though I believed the more an audio piece cost the better it should sound, however the Yggy has proved to me just how stupid that belief was. I'm mentioning that because in 2011 the K-01 cost me £15,000, whereas the Yggy that I got several months ago cost me £1850, and I'm enjoying the Yggy more than I did the K-01. P.S. In selling the K-01 I lost a very large amount of what I paid for it, so hopefully others won't make the same mistake as me.

  12. So this is interesting re: archiving SACDs using the Oppo. http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/sacd-ripping-using-oppo-or-pioneer-yes-its-true-29251/

  14. I have a later version of the 009 and have used it with HV, Carbon, BH and SRX Plus. I have not purposely compared the pairings in a systematic way, mostly I just enjoy listening to the music. I do like the combo of the 009 with the SRX Plus a lot!

  15. I like your post stax fart, but don't know where the Bentley came from and I'm 55, but yes I am bald, however I've had Micro-Scalp-Pigmentation done which gives the look of a full head of hair but shaved. Here's a photo of the back of my head. Now looking at the photo I'm sure it's hard to believe I've no hair growing on a very large area of my head, and that photo was taken before the last session of MSP was done, so the look I now have is more dense at the bottom. In that photo the scabs formed from MSP hadn't exfoliated, so it's look is even a more realistic since that happened.

  17. Two photos of the Panasonic ES-LV65-s 5 blade shaver I recently got. I decided to get this Shaver because I wanted to try something safer for shaving my head, and I couldn't be happier with it because it shaves almost as close as a wet shave but without the chances of nicks. Another thing I got from wet shaving was a shiny head, but with the Panasonic it's a matt look.

  27. I'm getting so tired of these inane posts of yours but I'll bite for the last time. These amps have been discussed a few times but you are clearly too lazy to look it up. This is really the "lipstick on a pig" way of building amps. Shitty circuits that are badly implemented but throw enough expensive parts at it to make the poor souls stupid enough to pay for this happy. Seriously, it is pure joy to read the Demograph posts on the Russian forum, he's like Mikhail from Singlepower but with even less skill. Utterly delusional and once claimed Kevin and I didn't understand the "soul" of the music...what ever the fuck that means. Ohhh wait I know what it means. It's just the standard reply used by any peddler of sub-par gear when called on their shit. Let's call high distortion, high noise and no ability to drive the load at hand "soul".

  28. Indeed! I am clinging to my Verizon unlimited account, and sometimes use it to stream Tidal at meets/shows for days on end. I've used 10GB in a weekend doing just that! [emoji6] T-Mo has unlimited streaming for Tidal/Spotify/Netflix/etc. **BRENT**

  29. 93$ a month is just insane. We have a few packages here that are 24.6$ a month with everything unlimited (yup totally unlimited 4G data) and no contract.

  30. Hmm, lots of unhappy Verizon people. My friend who uses T-mobile is trying to convince me to use T-mobile because he can use data everywhere in the world for free. That seems pretty useful since I travel a couple of times per year to Europe/Canada. Does anyone else have t-mobile and good coverage. I am tired of Sprint's poor coverage which is why I am looking to switch.

  31. Look what just showed up. I decided to treat myself for my birthday... Sounds brilliant with the HE90 and is pretty much required to use them. Also the build quality is nothing short of stunning. Now I just need to address some imbalance in the HE90's as now that the left driver is up and running properly the right one is a bit too weak by comparison.

  33. Thought I'd chime in here with my own impressions. I purchased a Yggy direct from Schitt. Have had it for about two months now. I compared it directly to the Bryston BDA-3 and the OPPO HA-1. Of course I was also able to compare it to my Neko Audio D100 Mk2, and I have a few other bits of gear around but didn't do critical comparisons to them. I was using the HA-1 balanced out for amplification and Audeze LCD-X in all cases for these comparisons. USB was used for the HA-1, Yggy, and BDA-3. Optical was used for the D100. Transport was my iMac. I found the Yggy's sound to be very clean, but also laid back or veiled. Like everything was kind of recessed. I'm surprised I haven't read this in the many reviews of the Yggy online. By comparison the OPPO HA-1's DAC (Sabre) was more dynamic and punchy, but I think a little less clean. The Bryston BDA-3 has both the dynamics and punch of the HA-1, and I also think it is slightly cleaner than the HA-1. I think the BDA-3 would sound even cleaner and more refined with a different output filter choice; using Dirac Live RCS helped bring out the absolute best with the BDA-3. None of these sound as natural and musical to me as my D100 DAC, like an analog setup, but the D100 is a bit long in the tooth now and these newer DACs have better transient response.

  34. Still baking, a lot - sharing mostly at work (and a few locally). Had a little bit of a strange very long fermentation week (last week), normally it takes about 24 hours to make a loaf, this was a lot longer. Had very interesting super fermented outcome - also very tasty. ----- Wed morning - start fermentation of Oat Porridge 300g oat flakes - 600g water - 30g starter Thursday Morning start Levain (100g flour - 100g water - 25g Starter) (I didn't make loaf on Thursday night for Friday bake like normal) Friday cook Oat Porridge - was getting pretty sour. Sunday Morning - Feed Levain (after 5 days of fermentation) with 200g flour 200g water. Sunday evening - Add: 200g Rye Flour 200g Spelt Flour 300g Whole Wheat flour 300g All purpose flour 760g water +30 min, Then: 30g salt 30g water 600g oat porridge 3 hours of lift and turning every 30 minutes - formed final loaves - proofed overnight in fridge - baked at 6am.

  36. The first photo is of a shaving set I got on the Internet, however when the badger knot came off the original handle, rather than glue it back on that handle, I decided to have a similar handle made to one I already have that was done by a local metals engineer, which both are in the second photo. Those two shaving brushes are on a stand the same engineer did, I asked him to do me that stand because I had a spare piece of black ebony rod used in making my custom razor handles that I've already posted on this thread. The metal on the stand in the first photo is chrome plated, whereas the new stand is solid stainless steel and quite heavy for it's size, so will probably last a very very long time. I've yet to glue that badger knot to the new handle, but when I do I'll be using epoxy resin.
