I brought Doug's ECP DSHA-2 production & prototype units to a recent mini-meet in Atlanta. Many people were totally super impressed by the sound. I also lend these two amps to couple of my headphile friends and they totally loved them too. IMO, the DSHA-2 does really well with lower & higher impedance phones including my HEK. The DSHA-2 is more or less at the SuSy Dynahi level but it is slightly ahead when paired with lower impedance phones, but the Dynahi is better at driving the HEK. Quite a performance coming from a desktop friendly amp really! Very well done by Doug. Super impressed with the DSHA-2. The 3-D sense of soundstage & imaging couple with dead neutral tonality make this an absolute buy for someone with 2.2k budget to spend on an headphone amp.4 points

I still find it amusing that some of you haven't figured Zach out yet. Because he plays the asshole often, you mistakenly think he is an asshole. That's not true. Zach loves playing devils advocate, and he's pretty good at teaching using that persona.1 point

Been binging hard on Krautrock at work this week, in particular Kraftwerk and Neu! For whatever reason, I've had a very productive week. [Insert witty line about German efficiency here]1 point

The more I think about it the more I wonder if the reason we hear these filters in the "space" of the room is because those types of cues are in the lower sound levels of the signal and have started to interact with the dither which is a very wide banded noise with which the filter will interact and change the character. When the signal clips or has some very high transient (e.g. cymbal hit) the adopodizing filters definitely sound more natural.1 point

As mentioned a couple of posts up,.. Ron Howard's movie "Eight Days a Week" is starting next week. I'm not sure about the schedule for general distribution but special showings with bonus footage of the Shea Stadium concert will be shown after the movie at these locations. http://thebeatleseightdaysaweek.com/us/book-tickets/ Picture of the sound crew at Shea (kind feel for that poor folding chair!)1 point

Thanks for the tip... I'll have to keep this one in mind since I love the Max Payne and Alan Wake games, and time travel always makes for interesting story opportunities. The nice thing about Elite: Dangerous is there isn't really a "too late" point to getting into it, at the rate things have gone. Lately the devs have been focusing heavily on quality of life improvements in addition to major features, and the number of third party sites to streamline tracking all kinds of information from the game just keep growing. It's definitely a time sink though (I'm over 1300 hours logged)... playing casually and accomplishing anything can be tough.1 point

That was an interesting piece. I like it because it makes me feel smart for making the choices I had previously made in ignorance. Seriously, though, that filter sounds lovely.1 point

Imbalance problem often comes from a small arc spot on the diaphragm. First, I would open the driver up and check the diaphragm. Most of the time, the arc spot is pretty obvious. You need to check which side of the diaphragm is coated. A simple way to check is to use your finger to lightly rub the diaphragm. The side that is coated will leave a trace when you rub. The arc spot normally only affect the coated side. Since the coating material stays on the surface of the diaphragm, if the spot isn't too large, you can just wipe the spot off using a lint free cloth. When you rub, the coating on the diaphragm recoats itself. That's how I fix my driver. However, if it still doesn't work, then I will recoat the diaphragm. But when I do that I normally recoat the diaphragms on both drivers so that I'll have equal sound.1 point

I don't know if it can help but one thing I never do is run the wires from the psu to the amp boards in series, I always use separate power wiring for each amp board and join them at the power supply. You seem to know what you're doing so it's just my humble 2 cents. I can't remember why I do this but I think I had some problems with that kind of wiring in the past with two Beta22 boards and I have been avoiding it ever since. Maybe it's just builder's superstition I think that if you changed the stock gain you also need to change the compensation capacitors.1 point

Quantum Break If you've liked Remedy's games in the past (Max Payne, Alan Wake) this is another great one. It took months for the PC version to finally be patched up to a decent state, but it was worth the wait. I am a sucker for time travel stories, and this game has some very interesting takes on that formula. Gameplay is fun, fast, and fluid. The live action TV show segments were just ok. They didn't really add to the experience but they weren't a big annoyance either. 4/5. Very fun game. Overlooked due to XBone exclusivity but great that its now in good shape on PC. Rise of the Tomb Raider Great game! If you liked the first reboot, then this one takes that game and cranks everything up a notch or two. The game looks and runs great, is fun to play and has a serviceable story. The level design is the real star here. Every part of the game is wonderful to explore. The highlight of the game for me was the tombs themselves. They are beautiful and fun to figure out, even if they tend to be rather simple. I spent just under 20 hours on my play-though and enjoyed every minute. 4.5/5. Very highly recommended! A better story would have made this a classic.1 point

Yes I have still have been baking, a lot.. Starting to get the hang of this thing. Something new that came out well, thought I would share. This is a combo bulgur flour that I ground up at home, along with oat flour, that I made with adding bulgur porridge as well. At a high hydration.. Really nice bake and flavor Good eats with unsalted cultured butter. Cheers1 point

Early bake (6am) Trying out slight variations to see how the flour goes. Barley Loaf Bread Loaf Size (g) = 600g Hydration (%) = 90% Total Water = 540g Leaven = 90g Salt = 17g Flours: White 330g Whole 210g Barley 60g Bake: covered 500 20 min covered 450 10 min uncover 20 min Over all very nice. The Oat is still my best loaf... This Barley makes great toast though.. I am liking the results of the high hydration bread - really hard to work with (goopy).. but guess it is all about the outcome. They are not as pretty as well1 point

Day Two Bake (I need more sleep) Almost the Same - But Rye Loaf today Bread Loaf Size (g) = 600g Hydration (%) = 90% Total Water = 540g Leaven = 90g Salt = 17g Flours: White 360g Whole 150g Oat 90g Bake: covered 500 20 min covered 450 10 min uncover 20 min Levain was 9 hours - bulk rise 4.5 hours - proof another 6 hours. I still like the Oat a little better for my taste, but really good results - I think I may be getting the hang of this.1 point
