  1. So about a month ago another kitty found sucker Steve. It's mixed coloration is weird, but cute. It's Black and Orange, in the funniest Jackson Pollock way. It looked very much in need of food and a friend. It took about two weeks before I could pet her, but once I did she decided it was the greatest thing in the world. She almost wants to be loved on more than she wants food. Also about two weeks ago, her boyfriend ( a Black cat) started showing up, and I noticed that kitty looked pregnant. Blackie is now a fixture here as well, and I've been worrying about the safety of the future kittens. I thought I had enough time to find her a new home before the birth, but this morning I realized that I had horribly miscalculated. It seems as though she was not pregnant, but lactating. She must have had the little kitties about the time she met me. I didn't pick up on it at all, but for about a week she's really been sizing up Susie. She kept getting closer and closer, then actually rubbing noses. At this point she's completely content with Susie's presence. And now it all makes sense. This morning, at feeding time, she introduced Susie and I to her family. I counted 4, but they are shy and there could be more. They look to be about a month old. I'm pretty sure she's moving them in, so Susie and I went to buy sardines this morning. No actual contact yet, but it won't be far off. They are so damned cute! Pics when I can get 'em.

  3. Looks like three Black and one Orange. Since Momma is so comfortable with me, they are more curious than frightened.

  14. Why even post that? I think we all know that. I think his point was that if you believe in the manufacturer's aural vision , then the best way to achieve it might be to find the same source and amplification. The way you said it takes all the art out of it. Now I don't personally believe that all manufacturers of high end audio are artists, but I think at least several of them succeed.

  16. It was Levinson back in the late 90's (not the company by the same name) with Red Rose Music. Bunch of amps and speakers all sold for silly prices while actually being rebranded stuff from China. His new company is more along the lines of Cello though. As for this amp, it could be good but a marketing blurb tells us nothing. I've got the "JC-3" clone from China and it is pretty good for the money.

  21. This happened years ago to the recently late, and very great folk violinist Dave Swarbrick. He had major respiratory problems, and used to perform using an oxygen cylinder next to him on stage. Probably smoking induced emphysema. After a chest infection in 1999 he was rushed to hospital, and The Telegraph published his obituary! For then until his death 17 years later he used to sell signed copies of his obituray at his gigs (with Martin Carthy). Because of his iconic status and failing lungs, friends organised a series of charity concerts called "SwarbAid" to raise the money for him to have a double lung transplant. Those lungs saw him through another 12 years of stage performance until his actual death (rather than his premature death in print in 1999!) in June this year at age 75. Was lucky enough to see him with Martin Carthy at the Nettlebed Folk Club in October last year, and shake his hand.

  27. So, here I am in Singapore a few months removed from a purchase of SR-009's and an epiphany and visit to Spritzer's pad, and here I go buying a pair of Abyss. Now it may be the $1000 Macallan with the goddaman Vicodins, but these fuckers actually sound good - really good - now I could use some conventional amp advice. My prototype Krell is still sounding the best. Thinking of the Moon - talk to me before I spend again...............
