  1. There's no way any current could make it all the way through you to ground, Biggie.

  3. Stretch, you'll be happy to know that there's something similar to this in the US. We call it an Egg McMuffin. I think it's more Scottish in origin, but close enough.

  5. Did this today. "Twin holes" along the right side of board - forgot to mirror before drilling the board, but this is a prototype and it will probably blow up anyhow…

  6. Blowing it all up is half the fun. One amp recently tried to kill me which is less fun but still enjoyable...

  7. Bought my first real soldering station after my latest one died, just a lowly Hakko FX-888D but it's better than the junk I've been using so far. I don't really need anything fancy now that I'm switching to mostly SMT. Possibly too late to ask, but is everyone still happy with their stations?

  8. Welcome @Cattler! Welcome to head-case. Hope everything is chill with you. Do you meditate regularly? I think its pretty cool to do so. I look forward to it now. For a fun and easy tex-mex meal, cut up some chicken breast into cubes and saute in the pan with salt and pepper. They'll cook quick. Then cut up an avocado or two, add salsa and tortilla chips of your choice and VOILA, you have a tasty and reasonably healthy dinner. Works great for leftovers except for avocados which turn into a goddamn horror show 20 minutes after you cut them open. What is the deal with that? @Cattler lets get to work on an avocado that stays good for longer. Thanks for your time.

  9. Another vote for FX-888. Got all functions I ever need in a solder. Did some smd with the standard tip, tough but not impossible. Still going strong, 6 yrs 'n counting...

  17. I use the Aoyue 968A+ SMD Digital Hot Air Rework Station. It has worked flawlessly for 3 years of hobbyist DIY, and has the hot air gun for smd (but I use it for heatshrink, which is convenient). Has a smoke sucker too, which works well, but you have to clean the filter out every once in a while. Probably not the same long-term quality as OKI/Metcal or Hakko if you are cranking out an amp or two every day of the year, but more than good enough for our purposes. Amazon has it for $175, shipped - http://www.amazon.com/Aoyue-968A-Digital-Rework-Station/dp/B006FA481G
