  1. I want to thank everyone for their concerns and offers of help. I'm doing just fine. My Cousin is taking great care of me, and I'm doing some projects around here to keep my mind from running wild. I'm going back down day after tomorrow to pickup some things and help clear some driveways. Not real sure if anything from my RV is salvageable, but will check. I'll grab more clothes and Suzy's Medications. Plus my important papers. I'm in a good frame of mind! Please don't worry. I had two trips planned before this happened, to do some work for Head-Casers, and still planning on doing so. Everything's good!

  2. The wall of misfit, underused bikes continues to grow. The Litespeed got relegated to the corner with the Spot to make room for the Mountainish bike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Don't for heavens sake try to have a barbecue in that, because you can't have your kayak and heat it. Which reminds me of the chess convention. After a few drinks in the hotel bar, they were sat in the lobby having a loud discussion about the matches that they had won that day. Eventually the manager came and threw them out on the basis that he did not want chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.

  7. It's under a salad spinner -- was probably about three inches long. I almost stepped on the bugger while stumbling to the kitchen for my morning coffee. Woke me up fast anyway. Later, went for a kayak on San Rafael Bay with the kids. As we were coming back into the creek, we passed a scraggly and -- as far as I could see -- naked dude furiously paddling a kids' inflatable boat backwards against the current. As one does.

  8. I'm alive! Don't worry about me, I'm safe and dry and my dog Suzy is by my side. The rest is all solvable. Made it down to check damage. My RV is in pieces, but that's just stuff. I think my scooter is OK, and my wormdrive saw is OK. I'll need both as the destruction was massive. Many people far worse off than I. And lots of work ahead. I've had several offers from the best people on Earth (Head-Casers), to put me up and I love you guys! I'll take some time to decide my next move, but have options. I should qualify for a FEMA trailer, and may do that. I might decide that Texas doesn't want me around anymore, and try a new start. Too soon to know yet. Either way, my spirit is intact. A true Alaskan can never be beaten by Texas! What is most important to me are my Mom and my Suzy, so things are good. Suzy is a bit freaked but otherwise fine. As long as I have them and my HC family, I can make it through anything. I'm learning to use my cell phone for Head-Case, so bare with me.

  9. Finns know their speakers. Cast aluminium chassis, twin Class-AB amps and a metal tweeter that sounds anything but metal. The minimum diffraction enclosure seems to be working as I feel the imaging is as good as the coax LS50ies. Despite playing below 40Hz very well a digital crossover sends everything below 60Hz to MiniDSP 2x4HD which room corrects the signal before it's amplified by a IMG Stageline STA-800D amp for subs. My next stop is swapping the miniDSP for an Mac Mini to run digital frequency and phase correction.

  10. Started registering for this season's fencing competitions starting with Escondido, Anaheim, Denver, Arizona,La Jolla, Kansas, then Memphis then Denver again as well as various real local California tournaments. Next week we book airfare and hotels. Our calendar is basically booked from September 15th through July 2018. Lamborghini purchase has been put on hold for another year. If our new coach returns from Italy in September to stay for good it will be a very good fencing season. If he takes the offer to be China's olympic coach, we are most likely hosed. I wish him the best, no matter where he goes.

  12. She will need some serious weight loss work. Once the new wheels are built, with heavy ass dyno added, it will probably weigh as much as my old FS MTB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. I've heard and loved most of the classic Grados . I've owned every pink driver model (RS1, SR325, SR100/200/300) and find they represent my favorite John Grado sound, but I always ended up selling them on. Then I found these weird things: These have the smaller red/pink drivers found on John's earliest headphones, and HP1000 gimbals. The cups are very shallow, about the same depth as early SR60s, and as a result they don't fit in the gimbals properly. You have to insert them "backwards" to get the angle right when they're on your head, but it doesn't negatively effect the comfort. They sound phenomenal. Similar to the earliest RS1, but they're designed to be worn with flats. The inscription on the buttons matches that of the prototype RS1s given to dealers, but I've never seen the cup style used anywhere else. All in all, I'm smitten. Loans available on request to SO.

  17. Shelly's cousin Hurricane Harvey is wreaking havoc over the Texas gulf coast. I just wanted to share that we have been in contact with Shel and Steve and both are ok. Steve moved inland and is going to try to get back home today to assess any damage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. Steve, is it just the trailer itself, or are the contents destroyed, too? I'm not exactly mr resources, at the moment, but I bet I could put together a box of home goods to send your way, once you are relocated, if they would be useful. Hell, I could throw in a headphone amp and probably a pair of headphones, too. I'm very glad that you and Suzy and your mother are safe, and I hope Cousin Harvey figures out that he is not welcome, sooner rather than later.

  23. Nope. The "oid" at the back of the word denotes that it's pseudo. Shel, the NAD M2 is brilliant, so I can't imagine that even newer NAD digital amplifiers won't be as well.
