  1. RIP Sgt. Saman Kunan who died during the rescue of the 12 soccer players and coach from those flooded caves. What an awful way to go! But in the end, what a wonderful outcome when the last of the trapped were freed and lifted off to the hospital!

  2. Radiohead met at Abingdon School (what in the UK is called a Public School, and in the US a Private School). Which is three miles from where I type. Originally Cockney rhyming slang for strumpet (ie prostitute). But fortunately losing the original definition and incorporated into "nice bit of crumpet" it means a sexually desirable woman. Which I think we can all agree with. I'll shut up now...

  3. We're getting very close - the power switch is on the front and a DACT is optional. Champagne will be a color option. This prototype has a blue bead blasted panel (compared to our usual polished blue).

  4. Thanks for the feedback. I ended up driving 20min to pick them up after seeing your response. Offer was too good to pass. This will keep me busy until my SR-007 MK1 arrives.

  6. Just got done demoing a pair of these (hf thread) from ttvj. From everything I had read, I thought these would be my perfect cans. I have to say I was disappointed in the bass response of these. I compared them throughout with my modded T50RPs, and in most cases the T50s won in terms of enjoyment, even for classical (Shostakovich, Mahler). The T50s have some midbass coloration that the Aeons don't (seemed pretty flat to me), but I had a really hard time engaging with the Aeons. The T50s bass also goes deeper. I also just got my set of the Massdrop Hifiman HE4XXs, and I do like these. Beth won't like them (open)

  7. My dad's friend dumped a bunch of old CDs on him, which he in turn dumped on me... the Pogues' album was the big win as well as Neil Young's Harvest. Also included were The Who's The Kids Are Alright, Simon and Garfunkel, The Best of James Taylor, the soundtrack from Pump Up the Volume, and Bryan Adams' mediocre Into the Fire. All in all, a decent assortment of old rock – you win some, you lose some. I don't turn down free CDs unless I have them already. I was also listening to old cassettes on the weekend. Lenny Kravitz's Are You Gonna Go My Way held up surprisingly well and Guns N' Roses' "The Spaghetti Incident?" is still a decent covers album. 8. Hard to compare them directly as we have not yet built the adapter to drive them off normal bias outputs but the KSE1500 is just a tad bright for me. I fixed it with the EQ with a slight dip at 6khz... As for the sound, the KSE1500 is pretty good, much more in line with the neutral tonality of the 007's over the 009's.

  9. Nice! I had some awesome poutine with duck confit on top yesterday at Duckfat. Great duck fat frites and brisket panini too.

  10. One of my best friends moved from England back in ~1977 or 78. One of HIS friends (Paul) visited some time in the mid-80's and we showed him a bit of our hometown. Paul looks across the street at a lovely woman, and chimes in with "Oi, there's a noice bi' a crumpet....!" Biscuits, crumpets....it's all delicious! And yes, I'll third the "stunning" vote.

  11. I tossed together a BOM for the SS Balanced Dynahi using the PZTA SMD transistors, MJE15030/15031 outputs. It is missing connectors, etc. but looking at the v1.5 gerber file (ssdynahibalsmt.zip), it matches the board (I think) SS Balanced Dynahi BOM.xlsx

  12. I've tried using golden reference HV supplies for the T2, but had some issues with negative rails as well as the current limiting when an issue occurs. I ended up reverting back to Kevin's original design. I will spend some more time with this in the future. My current GR HV mini board include depletion mode MOSFETs for current limiting in front of the GR HV supply similar to Kevin's T2 design. I'm also experimenting with a couple of ideas on how to enhance the current limiting on the GR HV (in case of a short), but need some more time for testing and $$$ for parts (... and a blast shield)
