I've bought quite a few Linear Systems single and dual JFETs from Micross. The pain in the ass is that you have to complete and end-user form now for every damned order. It didn't used to be the case, but must relate to some change in US export rules, possibly during the administration of the orange menace. Mind you it is not as onerous as importing potentially sensitive semiconductors covered by ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), which many space qualified semiconductors are. You have to sign documents that say you will go to jail if you sell them on, or even lose them. They need to be stored in a locked location, a register of use kept and signed, and any devices you don't use must be destroyed or returned. Fortunately launching into space qualifies as "destroyed"!

The only Aavid shoulder washer that is formally intended for the TO220 package is the 7721-7PPSG, but that has a really short bush length of 0.81mm, and will absolutely guarantee flash over. ISTR Kevin used those in development of the original T2 clone, and indeed got flash over. That must be buried somewhere in the early pages of this thread.

I like that washer a lot. I used the 7721-3PPSG. That has a longer bush length than the 7721-10PPSG (3.18mm compared with 2.41mm). But 2.41mm should be just fine. The downside of both our choices is the bush diameter of 3.56mm. The tolerance for a TO220 hole is 3.53mm to 4.09mm. Which meant that for some of my devices it was a really tight fit and needed to be pressed home. On other devices it just dropped in. But they fit into the hole in the ceramic washer just fine.

I noticed that you didn't tap the holes in the bracket for the screws? Any reason? Seems better to me than using nuts on the bottom. Also, I don't believe the metal rings on most of Kevin's boards are connected to anything.

^ I have the original vinyl from '87. It was the first vinyl I had, a gift from my mother when I was just 10 years old and I released my first stereo. Over time I have been gathering different versions, both on cd and vinyl. I love that album and it means a lot to me (along with the "blood sugar sex magik" and the "seventh son of a seventh son")

Piling up lately all parts for the absolute original DYI T2. When I say original I mean even in the Gilmore case. Last package come in today as well as the transformers.

Appreciate the positive attitude Reks but I'm not sure I foresee a time when I can spend that kind of coin on a watch I'd be unlikely to wear. A quick look says that it's a $10k to $15k watch, used, which makes it a complete nonstarter. Lovely piece, and like I said, total Grail for me. I've loved the 007 watches for for a quarter century or more now.

My Mom grew up in Hollywood and went to Hollywood High School. When she and her sister were walking home from school one day, Gable was sitting in his Auburn Cord at the Goodyear store. My Aunt shouted "Hey Clark!" to which he turned and replied,.. "Well, hello girls." My Mom and Aunt screamed all the way home! Some things a man just needs to decide for himself, like what car to buy, what house to buy, what girl to marry, and where to ask for such advice about which headphones to buy. This seems more like a Head-Fi question. That's the kind of place where you can get at least 100 people to give you bad advice. Of course, none of them will have heard all of the headphones in question, let alone have any real appreciation for your system (source, amp), sonic preferences, or the realities of your budget constraints. This is the kind of place where we're more interested in scotch, watches, bikes, photography, and all sorts of other things unrelated to headphones, because we've all learned that you either need to hear them with your own two ears within your own system, and then decide for yourself whether they're a good match with your sonic preferences and fit within your budget or just forget about them and invest in a high quality blow up doll instead, which is likely to give you more satisfaction than the mental masturbation you will otherwise be doing about them until you hear them for yourself. If $700 is a good price, and you won't desperately need that money soon, and these headphones are something you're interested in trying, then why not buy them to try them? If you don't like them, chances are you can sell them quickly (for $700 or something quite near to that amount). Nothing (or not much) lost. If you do like them, then you can sell the other ones that you don't like as much and repay yourself that way and maybe have enough left over for a decent quality (but not top of the line) blow up doll. We can probably give you some decent advice in terms of your options in that regard, actually.
