Sweet Hobie! We are planning to get a tandem Hobie pedal kayak but haven't found a way to haul it without a trailer. Jealous of the trip, Dan! For those of you not on FB, Yumi and I packrafted for 3 days/2 nights on the San Miguel and Dolores rivers (about 27 miles). I was a bit nervous the first day (it was my first time packrafting) but it was awesome! Will post pics later.

For those of us in the U.S., today is reserved to commemorate the fallen, those who have put themselves in harms way and paid the ultimate price. Spring is usually a time of celebration, and with things slowly turning back to normal, spirits are high, and I don't wish to take away from that. But take a moment, and remember someone or multiple someones, and remember them well. Celebrate the good things about them. I have multiple extended family members who are or were in the military, but the one I was closest to and miss the most is Greg, a splendid specimen of a motherfucker. To Greg! (I will raise a glass and have a drink to him later, as it is way too fucking early in the morning to start drinking.)

Has anyone been watching "The Nevers" on HBO? I have, and while it has many problems and is kind of a mess, have been enjoying it. Joss Whedon, who I know has a lot of fans here.

It had some twists and turns, and they even made sense in the end.

Remember it well, since I ordered one too. I pulled a major Karen when they wanted to charge me return shipping. I got someone pretty high up and vented. To his credit he took it well, apologized again, and offered me some small token discount on my next purchase. I told him no thanks, and that I and some others stopping purchasing won't make a dent in their bottom line; so why do they have any impetus to change. But I also mentioned that token gestures AFTER the fact don't make up for ugly business practices and nasty consumer experiences, and they should really focus on improving that piece of customer sat. I'm sure he had as much as 15-20 seconds of troubling thought that evening....but I haven't shopped there since.

I'm boycotting Newegg over their absurd and predatory behavior since hardware, GPUs in particular, became scarce. I would recommend others not to shop with them if possible.

That said, if there's a mic that you must use, that does not require phantom power, and does not state explicitly that it is safe to do so, there's probably a device for that. Either that, or it might be an example of an actual useful application for a cheap transparent preamp. I have a Grace Design M101 that I could send you, but I doubt I could get it to you in time. Maybe call Sweetwater?
