  2. are the speakers facing so their back is toward the mic'ed amp? Barring that, maybe a feedback destroyer to cheat.

  5. Looks awesome, ER! I'm so pleased I finally found a local roaster worth their salt. Fourth largest city in the U.S....you'd think it would not be that difficult. Anyhoo, I have been using a Chemex for a few years now after many a year with the French press. Have enjoyed the cleaner cup although it is hard to argue with all the raw oily goodness of the press. I am drinking an Ecuadorian Pillcocaja Typica Golden Honey. Love all the information provided by the roaster...he's a true gent interested in educating his consumers which I love. Probably TMI, but in case someone is interested following are but a few of the details provided: PRODUCER - Ana Maria & Nicolas Eduardo Crespo FARM - Pillcocaja COUNTRY - Ecuador REGION - Azuay VARIETAL - Typica LOT - #4 / 570 lbs PROCESS - Golden Honey DRYING - 20 days, 50% Shaded African Beds ELEVATION - 1700 masl HARVEST - August 2020 TASTING NOTES - Tropical fruits (papaya, banana), Acai berries, Sugar Cane, Chocolate otal roast duration: 9'20 Weight-Loss: 12.75% The special terroir of this Ecuadorian coffee makes it a very interesting coffee to roast with a lot of carbohydrates to create a complex profile. Additionally, in the golden honey process, we have more sweetness and texture available to be developed. For this reason, we started with a lower charge temperature and reach our crack time after 8 minutes with only 1'20 minutes of development post-crack. This gives us a balanced cup of coffee with sweet berries and ripe banana notes, a berry-like acidity, a creamy body, and a chocolaty lingering finish. https://www.memlicoffee.com/product-page/ecuador-pillcocaja-lot-4-typica-golden-honey HS

  6. Good Brothers washed Ethiopian Argo, roasted 10 days ago, Flair Royal grinder, Flair lever machine, NanoFoamer, Oatly barista oat “milk.” I don’t think you could ask for a prettier cappuccino for the second time the grinder has been used. The shot wasn’t quite right, but I was able to profile it and make it work. It was a delicious cappuccino.

  10. This. When I do my vocal lessons, I have to be really careful -- even though I have acoustically absorbative barriers between my monitors and my microphone, sound has a tendency to go around barriers, so you can't possibly sound-proof-ily seal between the mic and the speaker, but you can do things to minimize them. One is to use omnidirectional microphones everywhere, but especially on that amp. Shotgun microphones are even more directional, so perhaps you need a shotgun microphone for that particular type of application. But the important thing is not just to look at that particular signal chain (both electrical and acoustic), but secondary ones as well. If one of the other monitors is bleeding into one of the other microphones, that could be your problem. Or headphones. But yes, feedback destroyers exist (I'm sure Aaron used them with Thing3, considering how loud they played) and they've gotten to the point where they're dynamic -- they pop in and notch filter the feedback out -- and then they pop out, so they don't degrade the signal with a permanent notch filter.

  11. I have been waiting over two years for a watch that will likely never show up at the AD…. I did not buy what I am waiting on but I did pickup something I have been wanting. HS

  12. Too bad the medium goes back to my mother when it’s fixed! That sucks about the dachshund (I’m afraid of when I will have to do the same with my old cat, who is aging… quickly at this point), but I’m looking forward to what the watch is! And I have never been able to turn down a cigar.

  13. They are both stunners, ER! You can't go wrong, but for what it's worth I prefer the medium on your wrist. I'm old and likely not sufficiently modern but I prefer the scale. On an unrelated note, I broke down and bought a watch this week. I'll post some pics later. Moving a bit slow this morning after blowing off a bit of steam last night after dinner with the family. Neighbor called an audible and we learned he had to put down his 11 yr dachshund...we celebrated her with a few pours of good bourbon. I need to learn to turn down a cigar... HS

  14. That’s a great watch. I’ve gifted a couple (to close in-laws, at least at the time). I’m sure they get worn a lot still. If you aren’t a watch dork these are end-game watches for sure.

  15. I’m still not sure if I made the right decision. The Medium is my mother’s (I’m facilitating a repair under Cartier’s million year extended warranty). Maybe neither really fits me. Both go well with Birkenstocks, basketball shorts, and Ren and Stimpy socks, though. I would have worn either every day, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

  22. Picked up mom and her husband (Bones) at the airport. First time in Seattle for them! They got in at 1am there time so I let them sleep then went back to work. Bought some last minute tickets to Mariners vs Rockies. Me, mom, Bones, and the kids. We had so much fun, and I'm poor now. Seats behind home plate + sooooooooo many souvenirs. The. Cookout with my new grill. Not a bad day, even if it did take my life savings.

  24. The new shop is mostly wired and the big tools all have dedicated 240V circuits. I cleaned up and tried moving some things around to see how the space will work. It feels spacious compared to where we have been working in a chopped up basement space. This is approximately where the table saw, bandsaw and jointer/planer will reside, although the bandsaw will come away from the wall and may change orientation when in use. The blades for the Hammer bandsaw are still being made so it is going to sit in a corner for now, and the garbage rugs used by the tenant for years are now in place for some comfort and grease spot coverage. It's taking a while to get set up but I'm trying to be patient and get things done right. I'm going to enjoy working in this space and it will be much easier when Milo and Otis are in the shop together.

  25. No time to finish the armboard, because it was the time for truth! Will it fit and can I get the arm aligned. Well I think so! The SME setup process is pretty complicated - lots of tiny judgments and adjustments needed but the engineering behind the arm is just wonderful! I am almost at the top of the height adjustment - so probably needed a little more height on the board. I would say it has about 1/8” left of adjustment room - I guess useful for those future 300g releases?

  26. You might start a line of headphone hangers on such design: things like "to Dr Molinaro who gave my wife those wonderful appendages" and things like that. There's some business there if someone doesn't sue you for using wood Very nice holder, Naaman.
