I wanted to show off the sign that Steve engaged Naaman to design and carve on the ping pong table. It is a beautiful piece of cherry that will age along with us, although unlike is it will look better over time. I haven't really organized the stuff on the peg board, it's just there temporarily because I'm trying to get everything out of the old shop space.12 points

We've gotten pretty steady snow so far this morning in south-eastern NH, probably 4" or more and it's still going. Honestly, I'm glad. Winters of shitty rainy weather with marginal snow are far more depressing than a proper kick-you-in-the-face brutally cold and snowy affair.5 points

Okay, not a new idea, but Noveto is at CES this year, so perhaps closer to a real product. https://noveto.com4 points

Apparently latest forecast is 8-14" for us here in NE Mass. (originally was going to be less with the storm more South....something like 3-6") EDIT: another site says 6-12", maybe with my specific area just outside the heavier range.... This neighbor's tree is the one my wife called the Charlie Brown tree, it was very small and bare when we moved in.3 points

Nah, diesel is still sort of moving at those temps. 😁 6+ inches of snow on the ground here and still going.2 points

If it were a kitchen or bathroom, where one might need to whipe down the walls now and then, I'd agree with a clear sealer. In your case it would be an unnecessary expense and labor. The watered down paint will hold up just fine. I speak from experience. Great job BTW! And I agree that it would be a sin to remove that beautiful patina from the floor.2 points

Having never used this before I just did my v60 routine. I would do it differently next time, but it’s a good cup. Definitely finer, as it’s a little sour, but I would be happy if I was handed this as a pour over cup at a good shop.1 point

Sorry for a really slow response. Yes, the umbilicals are identical. Some background – my first electrostatic build was a KGSShv with a PSU with on board heat sinks in its own house. Second build was the DIY T2 and I liked the chassis design. Thereafter I have only built things (almost) with off board heat sinks. With T2 I built an original T2 PSU in a Modushop case. Later I built another T2 PSU with my own designed PCBs. That are the only PSUs I’ve built, along with the first KGSShc supply. But I’ve built a lot of Kevin designed amplifiers, and all have been power by those two T2 PSUs. I found the T2 PSU with its two identical umbilicals quite convenient. With the good quality Amphenol connectors it’s easy to connect/disconnect as wanted when I want to try/test one channel at the time. What about ground loops? I’ve read/heard about it, but so far, I haven’t, or I don’t know I have had ground loops. For me it’s more important I always have a safety ground connected. Therefor I’ll continue to use two identical umbilicals … P.S. I’ve had some issues with mini T2 that was solved by removing one 580V bias wire, so I probably have had a loop. problem. But safety ground wires will stay!1 point

I would not put any modern finish over those floors. In your effort to preserve them, all you would be doing is putting off ruining them a few years. Also, I'll disagree with Steve's technique. For rustic looking white washing, do it how it would have been done when a rustic white wash would have been applied. https://milkpaint.com/1 point

I'm receiving a lot of conflicting recommendations on what to do with my walls when I search the intrawebs, and figured I'd ask here. So, I whitewashed the pine paneling in my new office. I used a 1:1 of water and flat latex paint, applied with a brush and wiped down after 10-12 minutes. I'm really happy with the finish. Now, some folks say you have to seal whitewashed paneling because the watered down paint doesn't provide the same protection, while others only recommend it for whitewashed shelving and furniture that will see more wear and tear. Any experience/recommendations/thoughts/opinions? I'm only going to spot-sand the floor and just seal in the worn patina. The desk is going to be walnut butcherblock. Trim is going to be painted white. I'm OK with the extra effort if it's needed, but it's a lot of work to seal the walls/ceiling if it's not necessary.1 point

Found out that the inside measuring portion of calipers are ultra sharp. They will make a nice pair of 1/2” deep holes in one’s knee if you are measuring on the ground and accidentally bump into them.0 points
