High School friend posted a bit of video, she was seeing these folks live. Fun Surf-Horror-Rock band from St. Petersburg. They have quite the output, apparently having been around since 1998 in one form or another. So checking some stuff out. Several songs are kind of Dick Dale meets Vincent Price 😄3 points

I have to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying my 2019 16" Macbook Pro. The keyboard alone is a tremendous upgrade vs. the 2018 Air (which in itself is a great device). I'm going to end up using AppleCare+ to refurb the Air and then pass it on as for travel I can pretty much get by with the 11" iPad these days.1 point

It is a bit big to lug around but the screen is definitely fine to work on without an external monitor, unlike my 13” M1. I think this is the best MacBook I have ever used.1 point

There is good news from his website - he reckons to be back up and running later this year. He is in his mid 70s by the way. Clearly can't keep a good man down!1 point

As Wayne has already pointed out, it's hard to believe that so much time has gone by. You deserved to have a long and wonderful life! But the universe had other plans for you. We really miss you Matt. I for one am better for knowing you, even if only briefly.0 points

Not just someone or another... Just got a pop up notice on Facebook that our friend Matt Dunlop would have been 40 today. Seems impossible. That must mean it has been over 10 years, since I believe he was 29 when he died. Really liked that guy. He was a good friend, and I sure do miss him.0 points

One of the places I used to buy timber, run by a really nice guy, has burned to the ground. Apart from the workshop, which contained industrial grade Felder machines https://www.felder-group.com/en-gb/products/planer-thicknessers-planers-thicknessers-c1948 , his fine timber store went too; he used to supply musical instrument makers. The extract system burst into flames while he was working in there. He beat a hasty retreat and watched as it burnt to the ground. You can just about make out the carcase of the Felders and radial arm saw. Fortunately he was insured, and Just Giving raised £14k. https://mactimbers.com/0 points

RIP Ben Stelter, a 6-yo who died of Brain Cancer. As a hockey fan, it was incredible to see the impact he had on the Edmonton Oilers, and the love they had for him. Fuck cancer...fuck it hard especially for attacking such young kids.... https://www.nhl.com/news/ben-stelter-young-oilers-fan-dies-play-la-bamba-baby/c-3352427560 points
