  1. Ahhh, I see no beer in that picture, just sayin'. Christmas came a bit early today. Lance received a Russian National Team shirt and I received something bitter. Not pictured is a custom crafted Justin level finish FIE foil blade personalized by the manufacturer. The entire Italian olympic foil team and some of the Russian men's olympic foilists have changed over to use Franchini foil blades exclusively. We are honored to have him do this for Lance.

  10. One positive thing about having Texan parents and living in Texas was learning to make "proper" biscuits and gravy. Start with pork breakfast sausage of choice... Cook until nicely browned... You may need to add fat, if your sausage doesn't leave you with enough. I prefer butter, though my Aunt keeps a bowl of bacon fat on hand just for such occasions... Add flour and stir into fat until a nice roux is formed. Cook roux until a nice golden brown color is achieved. Mix into sausage... Add milk and stir near continuously, until roux thickens milk to a nice consistency.

  11. Figured I'd drop by and see what's up. Been doing lots of riding and not much computer time these days. No hospital trips this year so it was a success.

  13. Not today but last evening, we had fascinating eastern european cultural education over mexican food. Learned first hand what it is like to grow up in Kazakhstan and Moscow. It is encouraging that whether it be Moscow, Kazakhstan, Brescia Italy, or Armenia , they all share a common humor based upon "pull my finger".

  16. good bags matter more than the sealer, imho. I get weston bags, and then do 2 seals to good results.

  17. How can you be sure that its character is due to the source and not your liking or the amplifier or speakers, even the room? We're speaking of performance levels that being truly objective and fully aware of what's going on is very difficult, especially if assessing "true neutrality". I'm just playing devil's advocate, I'm not a big fan of Benchmark either, but pay attention to its bass output, it's as good as it gets.

  19. No pics, but tonight was taco night. Deep-fried shrimp tacos with roasted tomatillo and cowhorn pepper salsa, and miso and garlic-confit refried beans between the doubled corn tortillas for Colie, and deep-fried avocado (and the same other things) tacos for me. Guacamole and homemade tortilla chips as a starter. The grocery store had some great looking big freshwater shrimp on sale, so I also made four pan-seared freshwater shrimp with a chipotle-lime vinaigrette for Colie. Pretty good stuff, especially with a brace of grapefruit-based cocktails.

  22. I like the CFA2 so much I want to give it a separate PSU to move the transformer away from the amp circuit. The PSU chassis came in a few days ago. Still debating if to go dual-mono with 2 GRLV.

  23. IMHO the Genelec, while at a great price point, are a bit hotter (in the treble) than real so they may enhance brightness on some sources and recordings. ATC speakers have that bias too, but as stated before, it's just my humble opinion. I'm half deaf now

  25. Took Suzy for her two week follow up with the Vet. I really like this Dr.! She's so thorough and so caring. Suzy is looking fantastic. Everything is normal and she's lost two more pounds. Just 3 lbs. to go for a healthy weight. She also got Suzy caught up on her vaccines today, and that was very reasonable, and without any office charge. She will need her teeth cleaned, but she can wait until February, which is dental month and $100 off.
