  1. Who does Grummer think he is? Buying a new TT without posting it on here! Pics damnit Mike!

  2. Ordered that Grizzly one, back order is pretty extreme so I assume it will show up about the time I get bored with smashing sticks into box-like formats.

  3. Boy am I dumb: I listened to I and II, and am about to listen to III (on Tidal). I have listened to this NM US first a few times, but the rice paper sleeves are so fragile that I hadn't noticed that, well: unplayed 45 single. My 40th birthday is December 31. I'll listen to it then.

  6. I did the same to mine about 2 years ago to my SRM-600 I think. It had the cut wire to the 240v tap on the transformer, Spritzer help me with this. Then gave me the correct information to sort the jumper for the voltage selection . Should look like this.

  7. Remove both black jumpers, move the left hand white wire to the empty spot above the blue wire (so from brown to blue) and finally, put in a new jumper between gray and purple. Also, make sure the gray and blue wires actually go inside the transformer and aren't cut off. Either measure continuity between the next wires or remove the blue PCB on top of the transformer for a visual inspection.

  8. I see my watches. Mostly Apple watches, but watches nonetheless. I don't have watches to show off, I have watches because I like watches. Also I need to tell the time. Also, ABtW can fuck off.

  9. The Hammers come in 10", 12", and 16". The 16" is pretty comparable in price to the 16" Minimax. I got the 10" because I have never needed to work with something wider than that, and don't have the space for the larger tool. The 12" is probably the best deal, which is what Al got. https://us.feldershop.com/en-US/en-US/Planing/Machines/

  10. It is useful if you have a piece of wood wider than your jointer, narrower than your planer, shorter than your sled, thick enough for your clamps to grab, not heavy enough to bend your sled, and you only want to face joint it. That leaves out 99.5% of the wood you'll ever want to joint, as well as edge jointing. Edge jointing can be done on a table saw or a router table, but I don't think you have either of those things either. And in both cases it only works so-so. @Voltron and I have both recently purchased combo jointer planers from Hammer. Al is still waiting on his, and mine arrived

  11. Make that three. Never any problems with either the planar or shop-vac.

  12. My shopvac used to suck up 99% of the chips from my Rigid planar. Less cleanup.

  15. When you are awake at 4:30am and start listening to an audio book in bed at 5:30am and that book includes a description of an aged cheese and terragon omelet at a Paris bistro, you get up at 6:30am, pick fresh terragon in the dark and make an omelet. At least that is what I did this morning but forgot to post it.

  16. I think Colin still has my Tape Head Repro tube output that I assume could be used with the Revox.

  17. I am/was the moderator for the Tape Project forum and I have a modified Technics RS1500 with a custom tube output that replaces the 70's era solid state amp. I use that for listening to a collection of about 400 reel to reel tapes. I also have an Ampex ATR700 which is one of the last machines that Ampex sold. It was a collaboration between Ampex and Teac. I have a couple of head-blocks for the Ampex and I did some experimenting with the mono/full track head set processing tracks similar to what you're planning. The results were mixed, but in the long run, I ended up using

  18. Finally finished the box I made to put the wife's present in. Really happy with it. The handle is a detail I love. It's a cream leather amplifier handle I got for cheap off Amazon, but it feels amazing.
