  1. Yeah in addition to these 7 also have a handful of them in various servers @ work. It's annoying they don't just post up a link to the firmware instead of forcing you to open up a support ticket.

  3. I've had 7 of the 1tb seagate drives running in a raid 5 setup for over a year now. Haven't had a single dead drive yet.
  4. Wow talk about a clusterfuck....def. a good call on getting Blackie involved, hopefully he doesn't charge you too much but he seriously knows his shit. As to the R10 to boilingfrog what a fucking disaster that is. I can't believe he/they re-cabled your phones. Hopefully you can find where he lives and find a head-caser in the area to go pick them up. I hope everyone still waiting on amps does get them eventually even it takes awhile as it's better to have something then nothing. By the way the suggestion before about suing and/or filing a class action actually isn't a horrible idea. Especially if you can find someone to do it pro-bono. Collecting would not be a problem, just seize his the 2000sq warehouse that's filled with tubes and sell them all on ebay/audiogon.
  5. I agree with Nate it's not like a $1400 pair of headphones has any mass market appeal so for Senn it probably makes sense to limit it "authorized" distributors. They're just doing what most companies in the world of "high-end" audio have been doing for decades.

I wouldn't bother solely due to their build quality and rather lacking reliability. Definitely demo the Modwright 9.0SE if you can, I absolutely love mine. It also pairs very well w/ ice power amps if you decide to go that route.

Just an update, I'll be taking donations through the end of the month and then I'll be buying the new server shortly after that.

That's exactly the part I have that doesn't work at all. Or I suppose I could have just got a bad one.

I'd try disconnecting the cable box and see if that helps at all.

What else do you have connected to the receiver?

Ok it's final my hum issue is solved!!!!!! Turned out to be a combination of the cable and the ps3. With the cable box disconnected from the tv and the ps3 using a cheater plug it's now dead quiet. Until I figure out a way to solve the cable issue I'll just have to remember to disconnect it from the TV anytime I want to watch a movie or game. Not a big deal.
  16. tkam replied to tkam's topic in Speakers
Well I've done some testing and it looks like my ps3 might be the culprit. Time to try a cheater plug on it.
  17. tkam replied to tkam's topic in Speakers
Ok so there is still a little bit of hum there, I'm going to try disconnecting everything and see what happens.

Well I think I figured it out tonight. Still have to test out a few more components to make sure they weren't adding anything to it but seems to be related to my cable box after all. Either the Jensen VRD-1FF catv isolator doesn't work for shit or there's an issue with the hdmi out on the cable box.
  19. No flu here but I did have a nasty cold for about a week or so.
  20. I took a look at the archive functionality thinking maybe there was an option to add a "view as single page" type of thing. But yeah no luck there. I'll keep an eye out for any mods/hacks I'm sure someone else must have thought about this before.

The fact that it didn't happen in the first 6-8 months of owning it leads to me disagree with your assumption.

Will they suck more or less than the ed. 9?

Thanks for the tips Pete, I've actually tried both shielded and unshielded cables so I don't think thats it. Also I've tried the Denon directly to the D-Sonic and the hum is still there so that rules out the modwright being part of the problem. I've found a few posts over at avs complaining about the same thing with the 4308ci so I'm beginning to think it's a problem stricly with the pre-outs. Might end up having to send it in for repair and hope for the best. This weekend I'm planning to run the speakers directly to the speaker outs on the denon that way I can see if it's just the pre-outs or a more serious issue.
  24. One of the downsides of the ice power based amps is that they have a pretty low input impedance. So for tube pre-amps using 6sn7 or 12ax7 families of tubes can struggle to drive them properly. Your fine with the modwright though it has no problems driving loads that low.
  25. Mike, what pre-amp are you using?
