  1. well, vinyl release isn't cheap so I suppose I'll go for one of the little silver discs. In fact, I might get the entire Bernstein / Concertgebouw / Mahler collection, despite it being "DG Digital"
  2. nice. I'm doing some tests now with soft recovery diodes. I've found that with soft recovery, a C doesn't really do anything. Perhaps try 100 ohm with say 100nF in series across each diode (so, RC across each).. I've even been playing with a (RC || R) arrangement as well, and even adding a RC across the secondary in addition.
  3. is it just a problem with this particular species, or would the same results apply to any type of wood?
  4. Is 1/4W okay for the new 10K resistors between the REF102 and OP27? Seems so. I'm thinking about just using a SMD resistor here, as it would be rather easy to fix this way. Adding that cap, is another story...
  5. perhaps a Zotac ZBOX / MAG?
  6. Malware analysis that does VM detection and anti debugging techniques is why I still have to use a Windows box at work.
  7. I'd probably put a Momentus XT hybrid in my Mini if I needed to upgrade it.
  8. ISL9R8120P2_Q Fairchild Semiconductor Rectifiers I'm not exactly sure what the replacement part will be, but nice devices. If you want something exotic, I'd recommend the SiC devices: Digi-Key - C2D05120A-ND (Manufacturer - C2D05120A)
  9. no chance of an x-ray machine doing that? I understand it's wood, etc... just curious if it's possible at all.
  10. correct. In fact, my previous source was exactly this way... it's more common than people think.
  11. I'm assuming we send the "online price", so the same number as Jim is $7.41 to my zip
  12. damn, perhaps you should have started with a good 'stat amp instead as your first DIY project... ya know, just in case
  13. Nunc ride, serius luge
  14. but still 36mm diameter length? how long until they can get shortened?
  15. once I get things a bit more stable, yeah that's the plan! I think it will be a fair fight between the Krell and the Ayre.
  16. current regulative diode. Basically a JFET with a trimmed source resistor for the lazy
  17. Any measurements available?
  18. Cool Al, soon I'm hoping to hear it right alongside my Krell. Should be a fun comparison.
  19. The context the comparison was used is 100% fair. The comparison was the how people reacted to the company, not the company itself.
  20. luvdunhill replied to swt61's topic in Headphones
True. The O2 is so much older and all possible amps for it are completely exhausted at this point. Who knows what new and innovated analog design might come along next for the LCD-2, we need more people on this intractable problem!
