Backups and large quantities of data distribution (video or audio) are really the only two reasons to get a burner, and if you already back up to hard drives, then it really only leaves the latter, to someone who is not in either the audio or video business.

My work laptop recently recommended that I discharge the battery and start keeping it charged to 65% instead of 100% for battery life reasons, so I suspect there is some truth to it.

I loved Reamde, but two people I know couldn't finish it. Me, I couldn't put it down once I got to the final act ...and that's like half the book.

MSI have great graphics, so just look at their 15" offerings and don't get one with two drive bays like I did. In fact, if one drive bay is still too heavy, maybe look at SSD based offerings.

I think it's even more maliciously pathetic than that -- the hype train basically tries to make some falsehood true through repetition, and these people aren't even in the engineering compartment! It's as if being an early adopter is in itself something to be admired, but what they really are is a cog in a propaganda perpetuation machine. I'd much rather be in the perpetual skepticism machine, myself. Truth will out.
