  1. Yellow & Green was one of the better albums from last year. I understand that "sucked in and wouldn't let leave" comment -- that's exactly what that record did for me -- I just kept wanting to go back and listen to it. On an unrelated note, I might have to look up some more Whitehorse, this is superb: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALjg_NYDByo
  2. Baroness, Live at Maida Vale
  3. One of a kind AKG 3D microphone with 4 membranes arranged in a tetrahedron: I don't think that's a plumb line, I think that's an omnidirectional reflective surface that's part of the design.
  4. ...and then things got weird...
  5. Yeah, I use a saline flush, but sometimes my glands go into overdrive and I can't flush frequently enough. And I congest weird--it tends to stay in rather than run out, so now I'm fighting a perpetual infection. I was eating wasabi peas earlier and I'm about to eat basil chicken. 6. I blew my nose. Yes, I blew my nose ALL. Fucking. Day. I blew my nose so much, I actually need to rehydrate. I hate my fucking sinuses.
  7. They still haven't outdone "The Art of Dying", though, in my book. Now playing.
  8. Gojira, L'Enfant Sauvage -- what is French for "metal which is brutal and pummeling and heavy"? Gojira is.
  9. Les Discrets, Septembre et Ses Dernières Pensées and Ariettes oubliées... -- gloomy shoegazer metal with clean French vocals -- because I'm in such a good mood (it rained here recently)
  10. Went to Tropical Smoothie Cafe, had a nice fruit smoothie -- lot better than Bluberi's, I suspect less sugar water. They appear to have recently introduced a kale lemonade smoothie, which I will try next time (wanted to try with something safe and known first).
  11. Sometimes spelled "Ka-Prao" and variations. It's basically Thai basil -- in fact, most restaurants, when you order one or the other, you'll get the same thing. But I've been to at least one restaurant that prepared them differently (mostly in the mincing of the chicken). There's no bacon involved, so I wouldn't expect you to remember all that.

  13. I just watched that whole thing.
  14. Stylin' ride, indeed! 100mpg ain't shabby at all. Plus, it's light black. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't've been able to hold it for that long. ba-dum-chik
  15. You really think he'd volunteer?
  16. If you're still running a hard drive, SSD's run much cooler. That said, I use this X-shaped one on my Sony Vaio at home: I forget why, probably just because it looked cool and didn't do any worse than any of the others I could find based on a quick survey of amazon ratings while standing in a MicroCenter. The little nubs bother me, though -- I would have thought that you'd want full contact, rather than spacers.
  17. Callisto, Signal to the Stars -- more superb Tangerine Dream -like electronica/synthetica Callisto, Providence -- back to post-metal, still superb
  18. 's'truth -- I, too, have been here my entire ~50 years, and I never get used to it.
  19. You have freckles.
  20. It's bacon. Cannibalism is over-rated. Hardly anyone does it.
  21. Fuck you both. Funny thing about San Francisco -- it's on the same Latitude as DC. The difference is, DC is a drained swamp, San Francisco is a bay. Go to the other side of the mountains, and it's a desert (only one es this time), but the Pacific ocean keeps it temperate. For some reason, the Atlantic sucks at keeping even Annapolis similarly temperate. Fuck you, Atlantic Ocean. Fuck you, you useless body of water you.
  22. Oh, and I left one out -- I fully expected it to be too hot for my very clingy kitty to cuddle -- you know, because of his fur coat? -- nuh-uh, we just spent a good 15 minutes with him laying on my chest. I had to evict him, he didn't evict himself. (Best discovery ever? Carnot cycle.)
  23. How hot is it? It's so hot... ...I am now eating baked strawberries (I only left them in the car for 10 minutes). Here's a science joke for you: ...glass melts. ...I'm not even working up a sweat and I'm working up a sweat.
  24. Yeah, where are you, Australia?
  25. I didn't know they still made HDVD's.
