I've opened an ipod. It's not really that hard, you just have to be careful. It's a lot easier than replacing the dvd burner in a macbook, for example. You just need the right tool, and it takes just a couple of minutes. Just don't force it.

Stephen is selling an apple airport extreme that's a pretty darn good router cheap, that supports 802.11N and wifi disk and printer sharing. That's what I'd recommend.

I'd do a separate network for the NAS. It depends on how many systems will be connected to it as to whether you need another switch or if you can just direct attach it. I'd be glad to talk to you about options if you'd like.

Pretty sure there are jumpers you can reduce the output on the xlrs inside the minidac. Check the manual.
