    survey says, option 2
  2. I don't remember the discussion in question, but usually I'm pretty clear on the difference probably not being from 24 vs 16 bit, but from other factors.
  3. You're not accurately paraphrasing me. I think there's a lot more in play than the bit depth. Sample rate has a lot more potential to be significant, and it's also possible that there are mastering differences between 44/16 and 96/24 bit versions. Not to mention whatever was done to convert between the two sample rates. But 16 vs 24 bit is pretty simple. 24 bits is a godsend when recording, and once done, can be effectively translated back down to 16.

But Ken, he is incapable of making up his own mind. He's from the current generation who learns his opinions from others.
  5. don't bet on that being a good option, or an improvement over the pico.
  6. he is practicing to be a grumpy crippled doctor, cut him some slack
  7. I don't know about you nate, but I'd rather have the dac from the 840c without the transport for $400 than the dac from the 840c for >$1000.
  8. I'm more curious about the analog stage than the chip used as a dac.
  9. yah, I could see it having monitoring purposes in a recording chain.
  10. Yup But it means you can compare dacs pretty easily

  14. Wow, how awesome. Did you find it yourself, or did you happen across it in one of the other 40 threads it's been used in here?
  15. The selah line arrays seem pretty efficient and have fairly high impedance. They're somewhat pricey tho...

  21. That's just pretty much the only way it'd happen
  22. I'd bet my wife would ok it if someone picked up travel for the whole family
  23. I find it hard to imagine a way that releasing a browser would be considered evil. Hell, people were glad when microsoft introduced something to compete with netscape back in the day. It was only when they started "embracing and extending" standards that people decided that IE was evil.
  24. So that's why new production tubes from first world countries are expensive
