  1. I'm leaning towards a gravel bike for my next purchase. Dedicated cross geometry seems generally to be on the uncomfortable/twitchy side although there are certainly exceptions to that. Which Giant are you eyeing, Chris?
  2. Agreed. I miss having time to go out and shoot like that.
  3. My concern with Sammy is the class action suit against them last year, specifically related to this type of TV and capacitor failures on the power supply pcb. I may just push the wife towards the 50" panny and hope that she can live with it. A trip to Best Buy is scheduled for this afternoon.
  4. Ok, so the wife appears to be prepared to buy a new TV but our space won't permit the easy purchase of one of the previously highly recommended Pannys. Based on dimensions that I'm seeing it looks like 47" is another sweet spot and the largest that can be accommodated. Budget is a grand(ish) and I'm not looking for bleeding edge tech. The leading candidates so far are the Panny TC-L47E50 or WT50 but I'd love to hear some alternates.
  5. Oh he'll yes, NICE!
  6. I took a mental health day today. I hadn't been feeling well for a couple of days and didn't have much scheduled today so I decided that rather than get really sick I'd try to get some rest and take care of a few things around the house before the long weekend. I woke up feeling much better than yesterday and almost went to work. I'm glad I didn't. Time to go mail a few packages, one of which is overdue to be headed to Texas for experiments with maths.

    New Puppy

Congrat, Vicki! There are sure to be ups and downs, as there are with any addition to a family, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

    New Puppy

    The internets say 18-25lbs.
  9. Agnes Obel - Philharmonics
  10. This. Hopefully the worst case is delaying surgery until a more convenient time.

    New Puppy

    I second this.
  12. Still trying to conform, obviously.
  13. Have a great ride guys. It's rainy and crappy here today so no riding for me.
  14. I couldn't believe it the other day when I had the top open and you did not. :poke:
  15. I have a KGSS that could be made avaiable. It was made by some goofy dipshit with a fake company but I think it'd pass CE inspection.
  16. Cue up the bandwagon... Lorde - Pure Heroin Agnes Obel - Aventine So far I like both, a lot. It's been a long damn time since I've gotten much new music and I have forgotten how much fun the discovery is.
  17. While many here believe the LL is a (insert profane description) the level of hatred/disgust/disrespect/etc. in this thread is a little surprising. Alex is nowhere near operating at Mikhail's level of consumer debauchery, in my opinion at least. Are there issues with the LL, Kevin and Birgir think so, Alex does not. All I know is that I'm not qualified to enter into that particular discussion other than to say that his products are not the first nor will they be the last to have exposed terminals on the IEC. I don't find that particular offense all that offensive. It's probably more risky to have exposed tubes on many of the amps that we use regularly given the potential for serious burns to occur. But anyway, back to my original point. HC generally operates with a pretty loose set of rules and we typically (myself included) jump all over the random asshat that comes around trying to start what they believe to be an interesting topic. But this thread, again in my opinion, should be different. Birgir is levelling serious criticism and when the manufacturer takes the time to put forth a response the reply that gets applauded is one where he's told to go fuck himself? If you don't like Alex I'm not going to argue. If you don't like his products I'm not going to argue. If you don't like his business model I'm not going to argue. But the direction this thread is going makes me more than just a little uncomfortable. What I would like to see is more technical evaluation and discussion of the one serious (potential) problem in the lack of output resistors.
  18. Yup, stopped for a good/hard MTB ride on the way home and it did wonders for my mood even after I was attacked by a tree and left with a decent shoulder bruise/contusion.
  19. Well, the government is sending me home so I'm going to hit the MTB trails on my way there and deal with some of the stress of the government shutdown. It's epic end of summer weather outside right now so for the next few days I'm going to enjoy it.
  20. While I did not get crused as badly as I expected that was only thanks to a heroic performance by Tony Gonzalez. Holy cow my team is inconsistent.
