home made chicken nuggets with cornmeal batter

Do you pulp the organs and meat bits together and then bleach it like the real ones? :P

Good to hear, Dan.

Mike, the fax machine is on whenever the meat is ready. :D

Need some advice. I made another rum cake with eggs that expired 11/15. My wife said this is bad. Is it?

It possibly is bad. How have you been storing the eggs? Did they look and smell alright when you cracked them? If you have been refrigerating them and they passed the look and smell test they are probably OK.

The smell fine and don't float. They've been refridgerated. I've heard that date isn't an expiration date it's a sell by date.. It says "best by 11/18". Gonna crack one open.. They don't hardly smell at all..

In fact yeah the membrane is seperating and I noticed that when I made the cake and didn't think twice about it.

Yesterdays dinner was excellent.

Herb crusted pork roast with a mango-lime salsa

Maple syrup braised Brussel sprouts

Sweet potato souffle with Garam Masala

Caramelized onions

Fresh avocado

Yum.

I am just about to make a leftover sausage scramble (after sleeping until 10:15) but Mike has shamed me in that department. That looks awesome. But did you have a rye barrel-aged imperial stout with your breakfast? :P

Edit: apparently I am a day behind on the eating thread. Carry on.

i think i am going to grab a few slices of the leftover honeybaked ham and a dollop of tantalizing mustard.

Last night was quite a feast for around 30 of us at my brother's place:

Roast Turducken (my first, not terribly impressed)

Roast Turkey

Sweet potato souffle

Sauteed green beans

Roasted glazed carrots and shallots (Claire made them and they were fantastic)

Potatoes au gratin

Green salad with pears and blue cheese

Fresh cranberry sauce

Multiple desserts and an amazing giant wedge of sheeps' cheese

that looks like a wonderful spread, Al. i've wanted to try a turducken for a while now, hopefully one of these days.

x-mas brunch @ mom's house
