July 16, 201114 yr 120 hour ribs. Yum, the meat needed absolutely no coaxing off the bone. Hell, I lost several just trying to flip them in the 30 second/side sear phase.
July 19, 201114 yr Sous vide hanger steak, ~45 minutes at 128F. I love how juicy and flavorful this $4/lb meat is.
July 19, 201114 yr From last night Costco's new Chocolate pound cake (Note: diet coke for scale - its not an uber muffin) Slice Add Fruit and Ice Cream Serve! Yum!
July 19, 201114 yr Gummi bears For some reason, I've been thinking about them a lot these past few days/week.
July 19, 201114 yr Sous vide hanger steak, ~45 minutes at 128F. I love how juicy and flavorful this $4/lb meat is. That is a damn tasty looking steak. I'm hungry.
July 26, 201114 yr The sous vide steak definitely looks delicious, but the plate as a whole looks a bit bland. No side dishes? Kitchen stuff I want but have no money for: - Sous vide machine - Thermomix - New set of knives - Ice cream maker
July 27, 201114 yr Marinated and grilled flank steak with grilled yellow, red, green peppers and Spanish onions.
July 28, 201114 yr i gotta get me one of those machines. car, student loans, new digs, then sous vide. Yeah, you do. Bed Bath and Beyond with one of their 20% coupons seems to be generally the best deal. Also, if I were to do it again, I would probably get the regular Supreme instead of the Demi. The rack it comes with is actually useful, and to buy it for the demi is an extra $16 or so, so it really doesn't cost that much more. However, in the meantime, if you wanna bring some of that bread over, I would be happy to vizzle(?) up something good. The sous vide steak definitely looks delicious, but the plate as a whole looks a bit bland. No side dishes? Kitchen stuff I want but have no money for: - Sous vide machine - Thermomix - New set of knives - Ice cream maker I have a bad habit of usually skipping side dishes when cooking dinner for myself. It is usually cook something for dinner, then graze throughout the evening on what I guess you could call my sides.
July 28, 201114 yr I have a bad habit of usually skipping side dishes when cooking dinner for myself. i.e. no veggies... bad Colin
July 28, 201114 yr i gotta get me one of those machines. car, student loans, new digs, then sous vide. Skip the rust proofing on your new car, buy Sous-Vide
July 28, 201114 yr beer has grain. grain is a veggie. Minor point of order. Grain is a grass, as is all flesh*. So Colin was in fact enjoying a healthy and entirely herbivorous meal. (* Isaiah 40:6). Edited July 28, 201114 yr by Hopstretch
July 30, 201114 yr More veggies, this time in the form of a sous vide buffalo burger seared in bacon fat, topped with the donor of said bacon fat and brie.
July 30, 201114 yr I ran out of aged sharp cheddar unfortunately. Actually really liked the effect with the brie though.
July 30, 201114 yr Dougs Saturday dinner special. Olives, garlic, ciabatta, parmesan, pecorino, nuts and crackers. Also large gin and tonic with lots of bitters. Edited July 30, 201114 yr by Duggeh
July 31, 201114 yr Takeout pizza from a new place that opened round the corner. The food is quite good, but let's just say I'm not sure the name would fly in the US. Maybe they could team up with In-N-Out to offer the full experience?
