March 23, 200818 yr How is this like anything else he's ever done? They're not even Woody Allen characters. Exactly. No Woody Allen characters + no Woody Allen + London = great film. I really enjoyed Match Point, and it's the only one of his movies I can say that about.
March 23, 200818 yr Your should watch Hannah and her Sisters then. It has no woodie allen and is a movie that I enjoy more than Match Point though I did REALLY enjoy that movie. That and his movie Interiors (again no woodie allen) are beyond exceptional dramas though they are very dark and may put people off for seeming bleak and hopeless. They're no more of any of those things that Match Point. If you liked that movie I would be surprised if you didn't like the other two.
March 26, 200818 yr Watching the Comcast tech install the Tivo software on our HD DVR. I just finished watching the same. Limited time with it, so nothing to report. But it is nice to have the TiVo remote with all the buttons in the right places, even with the Motorola box
March 26, 200818 yr I just finished watching the same. Limited time with it, so nothing to report. But it is nice to have the TiVo remote with all the buttons in the right places, even with the Motorola box It's good but not great. Still has the occasional glitch, I mean feature where it'll lock up for minutes on end for no reason at all but that's Comcast, not Tivo's fault I suspect. Overall I'm happy we made the switch although I still pine for pure Tivo and wish there was a way to make it work...
March 26, 200818 yr John Adams on HBO. Read the book awhile ago so I'm throughly enjoying the series.
March 27, 200818 yr The Descent. not sure why i never got around to watching it before, as i always liked Dog Soldiers a lot. blu-ray rip for the win, too. The Descent is great. Only have the regular old DVD but still, cool beans as they say.
March 27, 200818 yr My friend took the day off from work to go see Doomsday today. He's a big fan of Dog Soldiers and The Decent. He thought Doomsday was great. Not as good as the other two, but he said it was, in a word, awesome. I'll see it for Rhona Mitra alone.
March 27, 200818 yr There's a guy on another board who lists it as one of his favorite horror movies of all time. I can't argue with it, but for me, I still need some more time before it makes the list, y'know? But yeah, it's the best one I've seen in recent years. That build-up in the first half could have been a great movie all by itself, but then they just crank up the intensity like ten-fold.
March 27, 200818 yr I'm watching Terry Pratchets "the color of magic" Pretty good, though part 2 is a bit slow.
March 28, 200818 yr I like The Descent as well. It's not high on my list of best horror movies ever but you're right. It is one of the best horror movies to come out in a long time, next to Cloverfield. I just watched Slow Century, a documentary of the band Pavement. As much as I like the band the documentary sucks ass. Don't watch it.
March 29, 200818 yr Buffy: Season 3 Makes for a surprisingly good background while working on a Saturday.
March 31, 200818 yr Just watched 2001 for the 239543th time. Observation: the two tribes of ape-men fighting over the waterhole in the beginning (the first fight, not the one) is exactly what fights at my high school look and sound like.
April 2, 200818 yr I just finished a documentary on the painter Chuck Close. It made me feel like i'm a total hack.
April 2, 200818 yr Caps beat Canes then Habs beat Sens! now if the leafs would win over the sabres, it'd be a great night
April 2, 200818 yr There is, and it's pretty good too. It's called "Chuck Close: A Portrait in Progress". They have it on netflix if you're interested. In fact netflix has a surprising amount of documentary titles on artists.
April 6, 200818 yr Just started re-watching Arrested Development from the beginning... So good. So very good.
