August 16, 200817 yr Owwie! VCAP? nah, a few very strange items though.. I think more expensive than VCAPs per pF? Anyways, a few of these 2 items: Voltronics PTFE trimmers (Mouser 768-A1J8 for example) Soshin Mica
October 20, 200817 yr FYI - Welborne Labs is having a 2-day, 20% off sale. I recently ordered some stuff from them to see if they'd gotten their act back together. Service was decent, I even got an email response when I asked about shipping status. So maybe they've righted the ship, maybe I got lucky, I'm hopeful.
April 16, 200917 yr It cracks me up how "similar" some of the Chinese part stores can be. Case-in-point: mableaudio.com http://www.kadelectronics.com/
April 21, 200917 yr How about a cheap source for Nichicon Muse, or better yet BG NX. Hndme.com (Muse) & Soniccraft.com (Blackgate)
May 4, 200917 yr John's wire shop on eBay is a great place to shop for (you guessed it) wires! eBay Store - John's Silver Teflon Wire Shop: 24 AWG, Kapton Wire, 26 AWG Any other good eBay sellers?
May 10, 200917 yr Heck yes, Richard is a first class guy. Gotta love the "come by bicicle and choose a free gift" policy!

March 13, 201214 yr Not necessarily a new supplier but I just got an update from these folks - http://www.metcaseusa.com/enclosures/combimet19.htm - with several new offerings. Running their online quote/price tool seems to show pretty reasonable prices. Not sure what their quality would be like but I may call and see what the chances are of getting a sample.
March 27, 201313 yr Not sure if this is the best place for this but am interested in an infrared thermometer. Uses could be as varied as making sure my HVAC is working right, to gear operating temps, to coffee temp. Don't necessarily want to spend 300 bucks, but Fluke is on my radar.
March 27, 201313 yr Funny you should ask today, I have the one that goes on sale at 6:00pm PDT and it works fine. Get that, then see if you need anything more.

The Fuke Model 62 "mini" is $85 on Amazon. The Model 62 "max" with more buttons to figure out is ~$130. Home Depot sells a similar pistol style IRT with laser pointer for around $50. Online, they have a whole bunch of them, starting at around $30. Harbor Freight has them for about $25 when on sale, normally $36. Edited March 27, 201313 yr by livewire

March 28, 201313 yr I have one I got from woot for ~$25. I works well enough that I wouldn't spend any more on one unless something critical depended on it.
January 6, 201412 yr Just smoked my second (mid level) dremel tonight, looking for something better for doing stuff like drop through transformer and IEC plug cutouts. Anyone try the rotozip rotosaw+ or dremel 4200? Would be great if it didn't get burning hot in my hands too.
