March 11, 201511 yr Our forecast looks awesome. The roads should be clear and dry enough to bike on this weekend, and we've had such little accumulation this winter that the snow might all be gone by the time we get back from California.
March 11, 201511 yr ^^^ Sitting in front of an open window myself. It is MORE than just a breath of fresh air for sure.....!
March 15, 201511 yr Well, what was supposed to be rain most of the weekend was correctly predicted yesterday and a big pile of shit today. It was snowing and 34ish all morning so nothing was stick but around noon it dropped a few degrees and we've now got a couple of inches of fresh, heavy snow and it's still going. Shit cock balls I've had enough of this.
March 16, 201511 yr We have some slushy shit on the sides of the main roads, very wet snow on side streets. Still only about 1-2" a bit South of Nate's location. I think I saw some of this predicted, but it sucked to get my son to work in the middle of some biting winds and sleet-like snow.....
March 16, 201511 yr Author I've finally decided to get myself a snow blower as I've spent entirely too much of my time shoveling snow this winter. Time to start my research.
March 16, 201511 yr Author The driveway itself is ~60 feet along with another ~18 feet of parking space. The said snow blower would have to travel another ~75 feet (probably more) from the shed in backyard. Another bit is we end up with noticeably more snow than everyone else on our street due to wind direction and town plow. Edited March 16, 201511 yr by Salt Peanuts
March 16, 201511 yr You'll want something pretty substantial to clear that much space, Haj. I was hoping it was on the smallish side and you could get by with an electric one and avoid the hassle of gas-powered lawn instruments. In the good news portion of the day the near 50 degree temps knocked out most of the snow that we got yesterday and the driveway is mostly clear.

As much as I'm not looking forward to owning another gas-powered lawn instrument, I'm looking forward to not spending upwards of 3 hours shoveling/raking goddamn snow. March 18, 201511 yr We have about that much driveway, and a very undersized/underpowered snow blower. 3 hours is about how long it takes us. Get the biggest one you can justify.
March 18, 201511 yr Get the biggest one you can justify. This plus I'd do everything that I could to get a 2-stage model. It'll throw much better in both light and heavy snow. I can live with a single-stage because the motor behind it is my tractor but even with that at times this year I had to blow snow twice to actually get it off the driveway.
March 18, 201511 yr Author Yeah, I'm fully planning on getting a 2-stage model. The tax return we just go will help greatly toward that since we got back more than we were expecting.
March 18, 201511 yr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0ll9yklhys That thing rocks it pretty good conssidering it's "just" an X300.
March 21, 201511 yr I know this will come as a shock... but it's snowing again. It's supposed to stop by noon time but goddamnit, yesterday was the first day of spring.
March 21, 201511 yr Author When I asked my daughter about the snow, she said, "I don't like it. It's the second day of spring."
March 21, 201511 yr We got about 4-5" here in NJ yesterday. I finally had a driveway again, but nooo, so much for spring.
March 21, 201511 yr Poor shed X 2 I just popped it out last year so no suprise. Is there a decent free cad app I can use to draw up plans for the new "frame"?
March 21, 201511 yr That setup is wee bit more than I want to spend on a snowblower. Check Craiglist. You never know what it will spit out. http://kalamazoo.craigslist.org/grd/4934952690.html That one would be a real arm twister if it had a mower deck.
March 22, 201511 yr Poor shed X 2 I just popped it out last year so no suprise. Is there a decent free cad app I can use to draw up plans for the new "frame"? Ouch Marhsall. I think that autocad offers trial versions of their software, or at least used to.
March 23, 201511 yr Exactly one week ago we hit a high of 75 F. Now there's 3 inches of slushy, white bullshit all over.
