Sony SEM-5Ws.  Low frequencies, low WAF.

I had no idea that Sony manufactured such monsters. I'm assuming back in the day.

I imagine that Sony's domestic product line was much more varied than what it imported to the USA.

I guess they have always been more focused on their domestic market (much more High End demanding)

That's a huge tilt for these speakers...

Too much toe in, not enough screen.

Those must be for either commercial use or maybe even movie Toshiro Mifune theaters. The average Japanese apartment can no where near handle speakers that size.

Thinking about Sony speakers ... the return to the High end?

Yes, the shape also reminds me a lot of the Sonus... and the price too. I think it's about $ 4,000

It's a lot cheaper then. The Amatis were 12000€ in 2001  

Audio Physic Medea II.

Each speaker employees 3 Manger drivers and 3 Seas 10" drivers with a built-in amplifier for subwoofer. Crossed over at 120Hz.

B&O stuff always looks great. Performance is another thing, but looks are top notch. 

Nice finish!  Those look like they may be bigger brothers to the Philharmonic BMR's I have, which use 1 BMR midrange with a ribbon tweeter.....
