December 25, 200916 yr Apple Store, here I cooooome! Oh Richard, you're so dreamy. Especially with your just-puberty second season facial hair.
December 25, 200916 yr Oh Richard, you're so dreamy. Especially with your just-puberty second season facial hair. Forgive my pop culture ignorance, but what show is that from?
December 25, 200916 yr Legend Of The Seeker. It could have been LOTR for TV. Instead it's slightly below average insipid rubbish, but very watchable just the same. I still love that the Train Man from the Matrix sequels is the wizard.
December 25, 200916 yr Speaking of the Matrix, its funny that today I read that Will Smith was offered the part for Neo but turned that down instead to star in Wild Wild West... I just can't imagine Neo from the Matrix series being Will Smith. But either way, Wild Wild West was a flop at the box and The Matrix turned out to be successful. Guess he chose the wrong film to star in. or
December 25, 200916 yr I don't know, if I had to choose between being reborn as Will Smith or Keanu Reeves, I would definitely pick Will Smith.
December 25, 200916 yr the biggest part turn-down mistake imo was sean connery saying no to playing gandalf in LOTR. they offered him something like
December 25, 200916 yr My favorite is that O. J. Simpson was turned down for the lead role in Terminator because the executives did not think he made a believable killer.
December 25, 200916 yr He was turned down for the role and that appears to be the reason most often cited. as far as them being on the jury

Actually I remember reading an interview with him in which he said he was glad Keanu took that part - he said he would have screwed it up and Keanu got the tone just right.

I just can't imagine Neo from the Matrix series being Will Smith. But either way, Wild Wild West was a flop at the box and The Matrix turned out to be successful. Guess he chose the wrong film to star in. I don't know about that. Because of that decision Will Smith is only responsible for one turd of a movie... Wild Wild West. Keanu Reeves decision to play Neo resulted in a good move... The Matrix... And two complete turds that were far worse than Wild Wild West... The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. I'd argue that the Wild Wild West was the lesser of two evils. No expectations means no real disappointment from WWW. But the Matrix sequels? They could teach a class at film school on how to follow up a successful film to maximize audience disappointment based on the Matrix series.
January 2, 201016 yr Daring Fireball: The Tablet That is an awfully long article that says essentially nothing.
January 2, 201016 yr That is an awfully long article that says essentially nothing. x2. All I got from it was the iSlate will not be an updated iPod touch or just an eBook reader. Not exactly news.
January 2, 201016 yr x2. All I got from it was the iSlate will not be an updated iPod touch or just an eBook reader. Not exactly news. I dunno, I think it just said "here's my guess". It very well could end up being a 7" ipod touch. They could teach a class at film school on how to follow up a successful film to maximize audience disappointment based on the Matrix series. I preferred the 2nd and 3rd matrix movies to the first. Given that the goal was to expose millions of people to interesting ideas of what it means to be alive, I think it worked.
January 2, 201016 yr Did 10 miles on a stationary bike last night and discovered one thing the Slate will be absolutely great for -- passing time while on a stationary bike. The iPhone/Touch is too small and fiddly to type and surf effectively when you're doing something else that involves even minimal body motion. And unless you built a really trick stand, a laptop obviously isn't feasible either. Might be a bit too much of a niche market for Steve, though. And he probably favors yoga or pilates anyway.

January 6, 201016 yr Microsoft to reveal HP built Courier slate tomorrow? I like how they have a picture of an HP convertible tablet that has been for (probably) at least 5 years.

January 6, 201016 yr know what is way better on a stationary bike? competing against other stationary bikers online in a biking video game I tried that - my boss has his road bike hooked up to a Tacx trainer, which is connected to his computer/TV. The trainer can even detect steering, you can steer up/down hills (in/decreasing the trainer's resistance) or even crash (the trainer locks the back wheel!). OTOH there's the "biking" on Wii Sports Resort...
January 6, 201016 yr I have a similar program for the indoor rower and it's pretty cool. It's also seen pretty much no use in the last year or so.
January 6, 201016 yr know what is way better on a stationary bike? competing against other stationary bikers online in a biking video game Something like that would probably keep me on a bike longer, if I ever get my lazy ass back to exercising. I have a similar program for the indoor rower and it's pretty cool. It's also seen pretty much no use in the last year or so. The rower or the program?
January 6, 201016 yr Author In case there are others getting off on these tablet rumors, todays interesting tidbit... Apple employee says tablet UI has "steep learning curve"
January 6, 201016 yr Not sure I buy that. Apple (read Jobso) is obsessed with ease of use. Look at his crusade against physical buttons. Unless it's thought controlled and you have to train your brain not to think about naughty stuff so it doesn't keep taking you to dodgy Web sites.
January 6, 201016 yr Here's one of the better articles I've ready about the Tablet, albeit it is more about what the device is likely to be in the context of how Apple approaches any product. But I found it interesting anyway and figured others might as well. Daring Fireball: The Tablet
