What sort of size on the adapter? When I made ones for octals I would just buy tube bases and epoxy a socket into the top of it.

I was just looking to make a plug and play solid state replacement for an octal tube so the idea is a little PCB with an octal tube footprint on it and then just solder in the tube pins

Oh, that's pretty nifty sounding. It'd probably still be easier to use a normal octal tube base and stuff the PCB on/in it. Just a board with pins sticking out might be pretty hard to get out of a socket once its in, without something else to grab onto for leverage.

I believe that's for the socket side, a female pin, and what MPI is trying to do he wants male pins.

I believe those are pins for the actual tube sockets, and I actually have some of those already. But what I am looking for is the pins that you would find on a tube that plugs into the sockets. 

Did some ebay searching for tube bases like Fitz said.. something like this maybe? http://www.ebay.com/itm/161158036593 Then I would still need pins to solder the PCB to the tube base pins. It could potentialy work but is quite contrived, maybe there's a better option...

Need to make sure the diameters are all okay before I order

Midway through heat gunning some SMD components the station straight up died. No lights or anything. I opened it up and am measuring nothing across the transformer primaries even though I checked the power switch and fuse are working. Never had this happen before. Wut do?

Never seen that happen.  Was it one of those cheapo hot air systems?

likely the thermal fuse inside the transformer went open, may be able to short it out.

There does seem to be a PLUS version with a case fan, which does seem indicative.

Is Conrad Heatsinks out of business? I've sent them an email about the mf35-75 3 weeks ago with no answer .

It's probably still around, but I've never received a reply to any email I sent that way. I don't think it's interested in business coming through email.

Not sure what dimensions you're looking for, but Fischer Elektronik makes excellent heatsinks in various sizes. They're somewhat available at various places (I've had intermittent luck with finding stock at Newark Electronics and TME, https://www.tme.eu/en/).

It looked like they have an online order form. Shipping to the US (or not Aus) looked like they have to contact you with the amount. Did you try that route?

I wrote an email with the sinks / qty I wanted.  They got back to me within about three weeks with quotes including shipping.  Once I sent payment, they shipped almost immediately.

I had some follow-up questions after I got the original quote that went unanswered.

I tried to fill the form but got a 404 error. I copied the order and sent it to them via email. Awfully silent. I hope they answer me one day, I am almost finished with my full custom carbon case. 

I also asked them what the fillet applied to the fins is. To me it looks like a 2mm tangent fillet. Since they will unlikely ignore my question, can someone measure the fillet? 

If I go the route of ordering the heatsink as a custom part as well, will a cnc shop be able to make a heatsink? E.g. a winged one like on the diyT2 and bhse?

Horizontally mounted fins hinder proper natural convection so it's a bad idea for a Carbon.

Bad in not optimal or bad in frying transistors?

Depends on how hot they get. 

Does anyone know where I can source pentaconn sockets? Either chassis or PCB mount.

Digikey appears to have some promising results when I searched for 3.5mm 5 conductor, 5 contact jacks.  I'll leave it to you to look into it further.

Thanks. I checked Mouser and Digikey and they both have TRRRS connectors, but none that are 4.4mm. Maybe I just need to wait for Neutrik to start making them.
