Now toasting the the T2, which arrived with three trafos rampaging around the PS due to some mishandling by FedEx, but which Kerry talked me through fixing over the phone. Quite amazed that he got me through it but I am currently rocking the 009s with The Who in high res.

Question for the "Whisky Mafia":

I want to buy a pair of whisky glasses for a good friend. My friend owns a lot of the nice Riedel wine glasses and I noticed they also sell a "Single Malt" glass.

Glencairn whisky glass. You can get them on Amazon for a lot less than the Reidel. I do have a couple of Reidel Bourbon glasses but I still prefer the Glencairn.

I'm drinking a bomber of Rogue John John Ale with hazelnut flavoring and aged in Hazelnut spiced rum barrels. Its a very unexpected brew, very bubbly and I would definitely label this a sour. It finishes with something like the aftertaste of a DFH Le Peche (cheap) but doesn't linger. I don't dislike it, but really odd. Doesn't fit the description at all, had to check online to see if I just grabbed an off bottle. It seems some others also agree.

Ha!... I know all those guys.. they all drink Glencairns ...

It is not the greatest glass - but it is the most consistent (and it holds up to being drunk)

After having an unscheduled car battery hunt, (car battery suddenly died, and I had a helluva time finding a place that sold an appropriate replacement) it's pretty much mandatory to crack open a cold, refreshing brew.

Hop Stoopid. An employee at Total Wine recommended this one as a similar alternative to Pliny the Elder.

She was actually pretty spot on. It's very similar. Maybe edging close to The Younger, but it's not as citrus-ey.

Oaken Barrel Apple Buzz...it had been around a decade since the last time I had had this...back then it was bright yellow...

Nope, just waterford (kildare, maybe?).

Just made anther pseudo-Sazerac. Halved the simple syrup and added 1/2 oz. of good grenadine. Success.

A "Don't Call Me Honey":

Take one part Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon, mix with ice and strain into glass; add another splash of Knob Creek and let sit teetering precariously on a nearby windowsill (during winter). Meanwhile, take another part of Knob Creek and age it in a Swarovski crystal decanter under a blacklight for approximately four hours.

Mix the two portions together, bounce the shot off the table and into mouth. Remember to tip your waitress.
