swt61 Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 Back when Kenny was cool. Can anyone point out another famous band member? He was in many well known movies including Slingblade. Also made multiple appearances on Home Improvement. 4 Quote
mikeymad Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 Older (and Wiser) by Lizzy McAlpine (2024) https://album.link/wgwhc8wnv2w2n Example: I really appreciate this release. At Just over an hour and 19 total tracks this explores a lot of things that she wants to say. I appreciate the production, close mic work like normal, but I was surprised at least 3 times by the choices made, and I am not surprised easily by music. 3 1 Quote
mikeymad Posted May 9 Report Posted May 9 Wild and Clear and Blue by I’m With Her (2025) https://album.link/kkwxgxxchdbdn Example: Finally released today. First listen was at 2am before bed. Did not disappoint. Happy to have more I'm with Her music. 4 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted May 11 Report Posted May 11 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/八十八ヶ所巡礼/八+九/ New (?) 88kasyo junrei double album -- I recognize several of the tracks, probably because they were released as singles and I ate them up, but I'm still not sure (because language barrier, and they're weird anyway) if this is a compilation or entirely new music, but whatever, I'm loving it. 2 Quote
TMoney Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 I'm never going to say "no" to new Arcade Fire, but this is kind of underhwleming by their high standards. A few good tracks but over way too soon (42 minutes). Quote

Ex. ^^ this - way different than the album cover would leave me to believe. Also different based on the merkin album cover. Anyway... - earlier - ABBA by ABBA (1975) https://album.link/fptvwf6qp87bb Example: 50yo release. Wanting to celebrate a past Eurovision winners. And test out the new satellite service for music streaming. 1 Quote

mikeymad Posted Monday at 01:41 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:41 AM Copland Conducts Copland - Expanded Edition (Fanfare for the Common Man, Appalachian Spring, Old American Songs (Complete), Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes) by Aaron Copland (1988) https://open.qobuz.com/album/0884977763522 (just qobuz) Example: I was thinking the other day, that I have not been listening to enough Copland (no not Cop Land). I have always liked his work and have many recordings, but I don't have my system setup right now. So I loaded up my queue and started listening. 4 Quote
mikeymad Posted Monday at 11:01 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:01 PM Day two: Copland: Appalachian Spring, Lincoln Portrait & Billy the Kid Suite by Henry Fonda, London Symphony Orchestra, Aaron Copland (1988) https://album.link/5msv0g08sjqc2 Example: A recording that I know very well. Bought it during the Columbia House days, and played it a lot. But has been many a year. A touch ironic that these recordings were all with the LSO. What's wrong with the 'merikan bands Aaron? I don't blame him, the LSO sounds wonderful on these recordings. These pressings were good not great in the 80s, but it is good to hear that the recordings are great. 5 Quote

mikeymad Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Even In Arcadia by Sleep Token (2025) https://album.link/wrrmhmkp0rqpq Example: Second listen through this album, before I go back to Copland. It is a good album. But listening to the album, which is what I do, it does become a bit samey for me. Any individual song hits pretty hard. But song after song they seem formulaic. Start slow, with some soft vocals, transition into some rapping and harder bits, then head into the screaming section and then break it back down before the end. Works great for one track, but not as an album for me. Production and playing is still great. Quote
