February 9, 201115 yr Just an interest check to see if anyone would want to attend a meet in Charlottesville, VA. I could rent a mansion in wine country on ~30 acres for less than $200 per night. Events besides headphones/speakers could include getting drunk at a local vineyard, concert (schedules not released yet), Monticello tours, other crap etc. I would think sometime in August or September would be a good time. Local airport: CHO 70 min drive: Richmond (RIC) 2 hour drive Dulles (IAD) --> mass transit is available, but is annoying. Have to take a bus to the suburban metro station, take the metro into DC, transfer to the line for Union Station, and then take Amtrak south. Would be about a 3-4 hour trip compared to 2 hours in a car. 2.5 hour drive OR Amtrak ($30) from Union Station: Reagan (DCA) * The Amtrak train runs from New Orleans through Boston * Edited February 9, 201115 yr by justin
February 9, 201115 yr Would love to come, Justin, but Aug-Sep is horrid time for me. Pretty much dedicated to family and time in Maine. C-ville is a great town with lots to see and do, so I hope this comes off and people get to see some of Virginia.
February 9, 201115 yr I would love to but it will depend on timing. I probably have one more solo weekend trip in me and with GABF not working out, I was thinking about RMAF again but this may be an option.
February 9, 201115 yr It is technically driving distance... put me down as a maybe depending on scheduling.
February 9, 201115 yr It is technically driving distance... put me down as a maybe depending on scheduling. Yep, same here.
February 9, 201115 yr I've driven it, but think I would take the train. In-ish. (Depends on scheduling, other commitments, etc.)
February 9, 201115 yr Author I've driven it, but think I would take the train. In-ish. (Depends on scheduling, other commitments, etc.) the train is really easy, it's the fastest way to get from D.C. with how bad the traffic is now. and is cheaper than driving. regarding date, it could be very flexible
February 9, 201115 yr This is a very cool idea in a timeframe that I have very little chance of making it. I will subscribe to your newsletter and follow the progress.
February 9, 201115 yr I'll be driving with my bike on the roof and can bring some of the train bound if they so desire
February 9, 201115 yr Depending on date, vacation time etc. Might be fun to drive to. Tentatively in.
February 9, 201115 yr Author I could make a poll w/ possible dates and see what might work best Example accomodations: 4000sqft farmhouse w/ pool on 85 acres. "sleeps 17". $400-650 per night http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p185451 Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway Girls Getaway is the closest match Edited February 10, 201115 yr by justin
February 9, 201115 yr Want to, but don't know yet if my schedule and finances will allow, so count me in as a maybe.
February 10, 201115 yr TBH, I really can't tell at all if I can consider making it until July at the earliest when I know if I have a job and have a calendar for August.
February 10, 201115 yr You had better lay in a supply of the most appropriate beers possible for this event: Edited February 10, 201115 yr by Voltron
February 10, 201115 yr "sleeps 17".You know what? I'm going to change my answer to "no way in hell", unless I can figure out a way to attend without spending the night. No way I'm going through that again.
February 10, 201115 yr When those places say "sleeps 17" they mean there are beds for 17, not room on the floor for 17 Aerobeds. I could fit 57 people into a place like that!
