Well, my trusty 1994 Corolla decided it couldn't face 2010 and died on 12/31. Thus begins a new tradition - the annual NYE walk. Transmission costs (waiting on estimate) will likely make stop repairs so I'm investigating newish car options. While I was expecting to pick up something used, with the current state of the auto industry, cash backs, lines disappearing, etc. began to consider a 2009/2010 Pontiac G3 (the once Vibe). The warranty is a big pull too. Basically, want a smallish car for city parking, good gas mileage for work commutes (40 miles each way - 2-3 times a week, when car is most used) and as I park on the street in San Francisco, something I wouldn't w…

I was just thinking about some of the clothing fads in my younger days. One of the earliest fads I remember in middle school was Starter. They made work out or athletic clothing along the lines of Reebok, etc. I remember getting a Saskatchewan Roughriders Starter winter jacket one Christmas that was the coolest thing for a while. Later on a Red Wings Starter t-shirt that has the design to look like a movie poster, the movie being called "Wings of Fire" with the players names listed in the small print in the credits. Once again this year I'm prepping to ride a century in support of the Kelly Brush Foundation. Between indoor Zwifting, the MTB, and multiple road bikes I've been pounding (or is it prancing?) on the pedals this year. I've amassed some 2,600+ training miles already with a goal of getting as close to 3,000 before the event as possible. This year marks a return to the in-person ride up in VT, with friends mostly coming from near by to do this as a group as safely as possible. I love to read and don't mind a challenge but I started reading Proust again and I think he is the most difficult author to read. His sentences are insanely long, often times taking up a long paragraph's worth of space. He also writes with an iron fist. If you're mind wanders for even a bit you'll often times be lost. This is a striking difference between his work and let's say Ulysses where your mind can drift as often as the protagonist's and be on the same page. What author or authors give you trouble?
