I have a couple of items up on Audiogon. One item retails for $9000 (Still a current product) and I believe that I am asking a fair price of $5000. So I receive an offer for $3500. To me that is pretty serious Low Balling. Especially considering that the ad has only been up for a couple of hours. I could maybe see if the ad had been up for 3 weeks and the item hasn't sold yet, but for a new ad? If I were interested in a similar item I'd offer something like $4250 - $4500. A still substantial discount off the asking price, but not insultingly low either. So am I wrong in considering such an offer Low Balling?

So I just got done reading a blog calling out Head-Fi and this forum was mentioned. I decided to join since I have noticed the same trends on Head-Fi. as the blogger. I was looking for a no bullshit forum where I could discuss audio equipment in detail and hear opinions from others on certain equipment (namely expensive cables, headphones etc). When I joined, I immediately read the welcome message and thought "this sounds like the place for me"... However, after searching for the threads linked on the blog I mentioned, I was surprised to find them all gone. What gives? Yep, another Head-Fi escapee here - just wanted to get my first post out of the way. To be honest, I have no particular motivation for signing on other than the recommendation of another Head-Fier who agrees with some of my cynicism on said forums, particularly in relation to some of the 'paid adverstisements' that masquerade as reviews. Nuff said.
