So I played in a free poker tournament in NYC tonight hosted by partypoker.com or something, in Times Square. It was a pretty cool event actually, with free open bar and free food as well. There were about 200 people in the tournament. The good news is that I finished in 7th place. The bad news is that when I was at the final table, my nice coat was stolen off the back of my chair when I was standing up during an all-in The kicker is that while I was looking for my jacket, my 7th place prize (a set of nice poker chips in an aluminum case) was stolen from the tournament organizers. They said they'd mail me the prize - I really hope they follow up on that. Bas…

Hello I am interested to see if any of you think that there are limits to your resolution. That is, your ability to determine if one thing is better than another when you very well know it should be?

Considering our hobby, I have to presume I'm not the only one that's sucked in by simple genius. This is a dumping ground for unique inventions that are underappreciated for what they are; they've become commonplace, obsolete or quite simply, frivolous! A few of my faves: The ZIPPO Lighter Simple in its mechanics, tank-like in construction, plus it makes fire. Fire good. I've been a Zippo fanatic since I was a kid. Incidentally, a more controlled flame (like a Bic) is probably the better choice for lighting firecrackers. I met this girl and we had been dating for a couple of weeks. I'm not really sure if it is going to work out into a steady relationship. I like her, but I'm not sure if she is the right girl for me. I know Valentines day is right around the corner. If I don't do anything special like taking her out to dinner that weekend, do you think she will dump me? I'm not against going out to dinner, but I am just concerned that it might ramp up expectations. I hope I don't sound like a loser.

I was cleaning out my ears and my sink in my second bathroom doesn't drain well and started to fill up. I foolishly had my Zen on the towel rack right above the sink and of course in fell right in. I was only submerged for a second or two but that was enought for it to start flashing primary colours and then settle on the color pink for a while and then switch to blue and then black. I immediately opened it up and dried out all the water I could see. I put it on one of the air induction vents for the central heating in hopes that it will dry out all the way and work in a few hours. We'll see! First off, this isn't a sour-grapes thing - I'm married. Valentine's day is a completely moronic "special" day. Isn't love supposed to be sincere, spontaneous, and distinctly expressed between the couple in love? How do $60 roses and a contrived card really express any kind of true feelings? Anyway, maybe I'm really just annoyed because I have to stop at the drugstore on the way home to buy a card.
