Haven't seen a movie in a while where the movie just grabs your attention and holds on to it the entire time. Aside from a rather drawn out scene towards the end the entire movie was excellent. And for those of you that really dislike subtitles, they're all single line and very easy to follow.

The Compact Disc is 30 years old - at least if you work back to when the platform first went on sale to punters. The first commercially release disc and player - respectively, Billy Joel's 52nd Street and Sony's CDP-101 - were introduced in Japan on 1 October 1982. The disc was released by Sony's recorded music subsidiary, CBS. http://www.reghardware.com/2012/10/01/compact_disc_is_30_years_old/ I remember first hearing about the CD when a fellow student enthused about this amazing new music format in an article in The Scientific American. He was amazed that thanks to built in error correction, you could drill holes in the disc, and it would still play! (according …

Posterboy. Dude joined in 2008, went to all the trouble of creating a profile and uploading a tremendously unflattering picture just to tell us about the 1964 Vincent Price version of I Am Legend. I remember when I saw his post, in 2008, and saId, 'Damn that's one unflattering picture'. Still he's lookin good for 90. Cheers.

As much as this information I"m about to give you will elevate me to status that few people reach in their lifetime. I must insist that you refrain from being the groupies that you are and not rush up to me and ask me for any autographs or any such triviality for I just haven't the time to attend to the millions of star struck fans just like yourselves. Having the status that I now have is a terrible burden with already too much responsibility, I don't need the added stress of being pummeled by adoring fans seeking fame by proxy. I just haven't the time. So what is it you ask that has elevated me to such a lofty hight? It is simple. I just posted my first for sale ite…

http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h3/Current/ The Federal Reserves Statistical Release, which lists how much money the banks & other financial institutions in the US have in reserve for various purposes. Of particular interest is the column marked "non-borrowed", which is basically the amount of money they have available for when customers make withdrawals, or in layman's terms, how much cash they have in the vault. Note that in the unadjusted tables, this number has gone negative. In other words, when you go withdraw money from the bank, that money ain't there, and your bank is now borrowing from the Federal Reserve Bank so that your transaction can go thr…

I drove down to my Granddad's house this weekend to attend his 90th Birthday party. It was the very first Birthday party he's ever had in all of his 90 years. About 80 friends and relatives drove down to share the very special day with him. This was the second time I've ever seen him tear up. The first was when my Grandmother passed away. He was absolutely shocked when he walked into the Church rec. rm. and saw how many people showed up. It was the best day I've had in a long time. My Granddad is a very, very special person, and my greatest hero. He danced with his two daughters, daughter in law and his new wife. You'd never believe that he was 90 years old. He sta…

I need to get a handle on my family's spending so I have started looking at software to help with budgeting and tracking spending. The 2 that I am looking at: Mint is web based and looks like it might be OK. YNAB You Need a Budget is a software program that looks good as well. Anyone have experience with either of these? Any other recommendations?

Yeah that's right, I'm raffling it off! If you're wondering, here's Jahn's original description: The Raffle: So here's how it will work, each ticket will cost 25 dollars, with a maximum of 5 tickets per person. Every dollar above 700 (which almost covers my total costs of the amp), will be donated to The Darfur Advocacy Fund to help stop the horrible genocide happening in Darfur. Send me a pm with your paypal address, how many tickets you are buying, and the total cost (don't bother with the Paypal fee), and when I reply, send your payment to the.monies AT gmail.com (replace the "AT" with @, duh) with your head-case name, and number of tickets purchased. …
