Same rig I've been using for over a year. FLACs in foobar -> Adcom GDC-750 CDP/DAC -> Gilmore Lite + DPS -> HD-650s/Blue Dragon Mk IIs, all the electronics being feed cleaned power via a Monster HTS-5100 MK II. Total cost to me: around $1500. What makes me a true head-fi heretic is that I have resisted upgraditis and FOTM syndrome. That is, until I sent a large-ish payment to one Mr. Takei for some bleeding edge fuglyphones and accompanying boat anchor. One pair of cans doubles the cost of my rig.

Ok so last night I was whistling along with a tune and I noticed a strange sound...like a clashing harmony. I figured I was off or something, whistled the wrong the note. Then I whistled the song again just by myself and I heard the same weird clash. So after some more whistling and so forth I determined that I was actually hearing a fixed pitch on top of what I was whistling. In short if I whistle one pitch, I hear two, the pitch I'm whistling and another fixed pitch. I can change the pitch I'm whistling and the fixed pitch remains, well fixed even when I move the whistled pitch quickly. It's pretty strong too (the fixed pitch, I can hear it very clearly.) My wife…

Let me know what you thing: http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=135050 For those that can't sign in: << "white glove" delivery, coast to coast... After reading through the horror stories in this section, thought I'd pass along a little tip I've learned from dealing with UPS for 30+ years. Would you pay an extra $26.95 above the base shipping fee to ensure your precious doesn't travel in the back of the big brown truck? To ensure that when the truck reached the package depot that the dock apes never got near your precious, but that the driver personally handed it to a center manager, who would then place it under lock & key until he persona…

Could this movie suck any more than it already does? I don't even know where to start: the shitty, cheesy dialogue, the horribly uneven pacing, under-developed villains, way too many musical numbers, I could go on and on.

In my wanderings across the world wide web I came across Spintricity: High-end Audio Adventurers - Volume 1 Number 4 - Where the Music Is Interesting how they describe their aim here: Spintricity - Got Music? "So what are we going to do about it? First, we have no reviews. Or to be more precise, we have no reviewers Instead we encourage manufacturers and dealers, perhaps in conjunction with a writer or photographer, to submit articles about their equipment. Articles will be screened to maintain a high level of information content and a low level of marketing speak [we sell advertising space for those]." Four Issues out so far Their navigation …

Well, the wife came to me this morning and tells me she wants to start an online business. Needless to say I know next to nothing about getting started, whats' involved and most importantly how much money this is gonna cost me to put together for her. Wonder if anyone here has experience with such a thing and can give me any advice?

Wow. Just wow. Read this thread over on the other site: http://www.head-fi.org/t/593135/returning-to-headfi-electrostatic-rig-suggestions/45 My goodness. I don't know why I even bother to read things over there anymore. Spritzer, I don't always agree with your tastes in sound but I think there you were 100% in the right there. It's a shame the thread got closed down because I'd love to blast Jude for his posts. Bullcrap products and posts can and should be called out for what they are. It's a disservice to newer members to let some of the nut-cases over there run wild. It's sad to see some of those people taken seriously when its pretty clear they do not have a…

Whats the longest time that you chaps have run for without any shut eye? I'm up to 45 hours now, which is I think, the longest I've gone. I'm now just doing it out of some sort of strange morbid masochist curiousity, my companions are two seasons of charmed I've not yet watched and a 12 pack of Tennants lager, 7 to go. I've no class tomo. No deadlines coming (original stay up was for last recent one). Should I collapse into bed, its there. Like, 2 feet away. All snug and warm. OR Should I just keep going. In the name of science. Or whatever passes for science these days? I'm aware (from reading and such) of what symptoms I might expect (increasing chance…

My long run plan also includes a 24' long portable Santa "house" (built on a trailer to the maximum height 13'6" and width 9'), which will also double as the "garage" for my sleigh. But the house (Part Two of stepping up my Santa game) will have to wait until next year. In the meantime, I have no clue where I'm going to store this sleigh, which is over 14' long (main body) and I'm not sure, maybe 9' or 10' high with the hood up. I'm not thrilled with my color choices. The main body was intended to be a distinctive red, as opposed to an orange-red, so I may have it repainted once it arrives in Cayman. Thinking something more on the lines of a candy apple red, but not …

Enough is enough. At first everyone had to get it out of their system which is fine, but this crap has gone on long enough. Do you think people really want to read thread after thread gangbanging rsa or some idiot on head-fi? Even after the most annoying head-fier thread was locked nobody seems to get the message, and instead start threads that either turn into or are indirectly criticizing head-fi or it's members in some way. Do you people think you're so damn better than head-fi? I have news for you, reading your stupid whining about head-fi is worse than just going out and reading head-fi itself. The signal to noise ratio is getting absurd in here. It's an insult to…
