Headphones

Results for anyone to see. Asking because I know that not a lot of people listen to music as quietly as I do. I find it essential to listen at this volume however otherwise I get fatigue. I know the o'clock ratings are fairly arbitary since there's no accounting for source, amp or headphone and is thus merely a rough guide. Cheers!

I'm primarily a Senn guy, though I enjoy my SR225 from time to time, kind of like a fun diversion. I'm listening to Depeche Mode's "I Want You Now" right now, the fun, upfront sound is just cool, puts a smile on my face . I've especially enjoyed them since I got my PPX3 Slam, they benefit a lot from warmer amplification. What I want is to hear the Grado sound with more clarity and bass extension. Will I get this from the RS-1? Yeah I know the price is outrageous, but there is a beater user grade pair for sale over at Head-Fi right now for under 500, and it has me thinking. was just told by my audiophile friend whom borrowed my stats setup - kgss + o2mk2 that during low level listening sometimes a very faint static appear. Try it myself today and yes, it does randomly appear. Only on low level listening and the static was very faint and very short but still my ear can catch it.....anyone knows whats wrong ?? thanks

I am a fairly new owner of Stax (about two months) and am very happy with my Lambda Pro. I also have a plain Lambda but haven't used it much yet. As some of you may know, I have been doing some renovations on the Pros, such as making DIY leather ear pads (really, just covering the stock earpads) with leather. This worked quite well. I've come to a crossroads, when I was somewhat forced into downgrading to one phone some of the sting was taken out of it because I thought I'd found the perfect all-rounder for my preferences and budget in the E500's. I'm a bit of a basshead, I like my mids as well and I?m quite sensitive to sibilance so the overall balance of the E500's suits me, I know it's not the perfect phone and there's better on the market but I've always found them to be a satisfying listen that has allowed me to focus on the music not the equipment. Hi I somehow have lost my headphones, so here I am trying to find out which to buy.. I've been looking on the market (im from Denmark) and right now it seems like I will choose from Pioneer HDJ-1500, Sennheiser URBANITE on-ear and Sony MDR-1A. Those three headohones seems to be quite good and around same prices tags: Little over $200 in Denmark! What I am going to use the headphones to is primary on the bus, when I travel to/from school, to visit family/friends etc. I might use them at home also, but primary use is on the bus. I currently have two R10's which sound a bit different from each other. I'm trying to decide which one to send to SinglePower for a balanced recable. Mikhail told me he has recabled several R10's before, while I've never read about any other companies who have done so. Actually, there isn't much info about balanced R10's at all. I intend to keep one stock so I can compare it with the balanced recabled one. One has less bass but a better midrange and larger soundstage. Which one should be recabled, the one with less bass or the one with more bass? No poll option, or am I stupid again?

Well I do. This is a lower serial # pair which I got for recable. After recabling them I spent some time doing tests on the stock cable and I must say Sony really screwed up here. 0.9ohm for the channels and 0.6ohm on ground. The ground is a shield running through covering a PVC covered wire. Looking at the wire itself since the insulation is clear allows me to see the stock wire is all oxidized! So in short. Cheap thin wire pulled in through tubing and then sleeved with black material. Good job Sony on such a nice high end headphone. So, I've had these for a bit now, say 5 days. Those that used to lurk at H-F will probably know I detested disliked the K701's and managed to swap them for some dt-990-250's (2005) through some FS forum and ebay kung-fu. Currently using PowerMac (toslink or usb) -> 0404 usb (1/4" to old monster studiolink RCA) -> Glite w/ elpac -> dt-990's. I'm sure arguments could be made about the quality of my rig, but given budget constraints (and the roving eyes of the woman - thankfully the glite is tiny and the 0404 USB gets used for recording too), I think it is pretty damn decent. Sony released these back in April: The MDR-RF4000K: Also, the MRD-RF810RK (which looks to already be superceded by something). What caught my attention was one particular spec: 2.4GHz. That's the digital transmission. So I'd be curious if anyone heard this, or if we have a serious contender for a wireless headphone yet.

I never really was into the wireless Dolby headphones thing. However I find myself wanting something like that for late-night TV watching. (and apparently on the rare occasion that I do follow a series, my program choices are 'so gay'.) What's worth buying these days?

Could anybody recommend a model to me that is wireless, noise cancelling, over the ear with microphone headset that can work with PC and mobile? I tend to go between an ER4P/S and the Senn 600s. Was in a music store today and noticed that they carried these Beyers. Anyone have any experience with either or would they recommend one or the other based on my current listening experiences? They were both $239

I just got a pair of Yamaha YH-1000 given to me by my father. I understand they are special. I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 600s, FWIW. One channel is very week and distorted-but plays-and the foam needs replaced on both ear pads. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about fixing either problem? I can solder and am an adventurous DIYer. Thanks for your help.

Grado SR-60. Still one of my favorite headphones. Hella uncomfortable when new. Works well out of a DAP (won't kill the battery). Sennheiser HD580 Nice all around headphones, also great for movies. Sound great with simple amps (cmoy, Govibe, etc). If I was ever in a major financial rut I could probably sell everything for just those two.

Ok, so I apparently have more spare change than sense and ordered a pair of these. Couldn't resist the curiosity. These aren't really burned in yet (only a few hours on them), but they really are surprisingly good. They look and feel like earbus, and sound something akin to a real pair of headphones. Unlike earbuds they seem to do extended bass. At the moment they sound a bit 'plasticky' and nasal in the midrange (as if you took an open headphone and then covered the backs), and I wonder how they will relax with proper burn-in. They are extremely hard to drive - I find myself using a similar volume setting on my amp to my 650's, which makes them even harder to drive…
