Naturally a few days after doing the major software upgrade the server had a drive failure, it's been restored from the latest backup but it may be missing several hours worth of data. My apologies!

We've updated the forum software to the latest major release. This release includes speed, security and visual improvements. One big change is that you can no longer login using your username - you must login using your e-mail address. Since this is a major upgrade please post any issues that you run into. -Your Friendly Neighborhood Forum Admin

What The Hell Happened to Head-Case?!?!? TLDR version: The datacenter that the head-case server is located in sustained a power outage on April 4. When the backup generator kicked on it caught fire and that lead to the fire suppression system (a fucking water based one!) kicking on and causing water damage to equipment. The head-case server was in the 'more affected' area of the datacenter and as such was offline until early in the morning on April 24. For further details on the incident you can see here: https://webnx.com/outage-updates/ You may be wondering why during such a long time the site wasn't simply migrated elsewhere, this is a fair question and…

Did an update the forum software today biggest noticeable change is the 'Leaderboard' tab shows users with top posts and the most popular content. I believe it's to help increase discover ability or something. The other major change is that the site is now completely served over HTTPS. This includes embedded content and images. For most services it'll automatically pull in from HTTPS url's if the service supports it. If the content can't be pulled from HTTPS the forum software will download the content and serve it via an internal proxy script. Main reason for the later is to avoid browsers mixed-content warnings.

Hello, I'll be moving head-case to a new server tonight at approx. 11pm EST. I've set aside about a 1 hr time window to do the move but expected downtime is much shorter than that. -Todd

The black bar through the logo is because we lost one of our good friends. His forum handle was NightWoundsTime, and his real name was Matt. We miss him greatly. This isn't a thread to discuss that, but just to explain why the mood might seem a little darker than usual. I'll post details on the family's chosen memorial when we have them for those that would like to honor Matt. Thanks for understanding

Thanks for joining Head-Case. I'm glad you're here. That said, you should be aware that this isn't your typical internet forum. We're not here so that you'll have another place to sell your stuff. We're not looking for people trying to pad their post counts, or demonstrate their ability to find witty things on the internet. If you've come here looking for advice on which headphones to buy, perhaps you should check out http://www.innerfidelity.com. Tyll Hertsens, founder of Head-Room and long time community giant is the proprietor there, and does everything he can to ensure that accurate information is disseminated about headphones at every level. This is predominan…

Hey All, The change to the new forum software went pretty well. Few things I'd like to point out: 1) Old links don't currently work I ran into some troubles with that. I do believe I can fix it but I didn't want to keep the forums off-line till then. 2) I wasn't able to migrate over user albums (this is hopefully just temporary) 3) Tapatalk is supported and will work, but their website is currently down so I was unable to download the server-side files that I need to for it to work 4) Twitter updates - these won't work for now. If I have time later tonight I'll get it setup. 5) Some Private Messages were not able to be imported, I don't know why but it wasn't…

In preparation for the upcoming upgrade from vB 3.8 to vB 4 I'll be doing a bit of house cleaning. So you might see some functionality loss as I remove plugins/mods that are no longer supported or have features that are built into vB 4. I'll provide a date and time for when the upgrade will occur as I get closer to being ready.

Welcome to the new migrated forums everyone. There's a few new features and a few things are a work in progress. Let me get to the work in progress things first, user profiles didn't migrate everything over correctly so make sure to check your profiles and make sure they are ok. Also you'll notice on imported posts that embedded media (think youtube links, etc) aren't embedded. I will probably edit and fix them as I see them but don't expect them to all get fixed any time soon. On to the new features, we now have a fully integrated chat room feature. It will automatically log you in via your forum login info. There's also an improved downloads section which I'll …

On Friday June 13th we'll be migrating the forum over to new forum software. Photo Galleries, avatars and most attachments will not get migrated. All users, user groups, posts, threads, boards, polls, pm's etc will be moved over. The one big thing that's going to affect every user is that the migration process cannot copy your passwords over. So when the site comes back up after the migration you will need to go through the password reset process. The password reset process sends out an e-mail to the e-mail address attached to your account so make sure it's one that you still have access to.

There will be some downtime late Friday night into Saturday morning, probably starting around 11:30PM or so for roughly an hour. This is going to be mostly behind the scenes changes but there will be one visible change, the url structure for posts, threads, etc will change. So any bookmarked links to specific threads or posts will no longer work once the site comes back up. This is an unfortunate but necessary change for moving forward.

Hey Guys, I'm in a good mood today for some reason so I figured I'd offer up free head-case.org email accounts to any member that wants one. If interested please PM me with the login (this will be what comes before the @ in the email address) and password you want to use. Please only request an account if you plan to actually use it. Regular members are now allowed to edit their own posts up to 5 minutes after posting. This should be plenty of time to fix any typos or what not and should be short enough to make sure someone can't remove the contents of their posts at a later time.
