I bought this game a few days ago and I can't stop playing. The game is amazing. It's become one of my favorite mario games ever. I like it even better than SMB3 (and I know such a claim is blasphemy!). It starts off way too easy but after the first 60 stars you collect then the game has a sharp incline of difficulty and that's when it gets fun. There is so much variety with the exception of collecting 100 purple coins in every level that something almost always feels fresh. I highly recommend this game.

I've been playing this for a couple of weeks and this is one of the more fun physics based puzzle games I've played. And I do enjoy my physics games World of Goo is an indie developed game that has you use blobs of goo to try and build structures that will lead the goo to their freedom by an exit pipe. The game starts off very easy, but ramps up in difficulty pretty quickly. World of Goo Free demo on Steam and the system requirements aren't high. Youtube trailer:

Ok, so the Boy wants a video game console. I want to get him one that we can use together. My initial assumption was Wii U, but it is getting mixed reviews. What do you guys think? XBOX with Kinect? Basically, I want something that has good multi-player, non-shooting games. So lots of sports titles and things that the Boy can physically do instead of just using the controller. Don't care about Blu-Ray, etc.

http://www.theverge....-gaming-console Disclaimer: There isn't a hell of a lot of concrete data or sources behind this article. Take it for the overglorified rumormongering that it is but I personally think there's a grain of truth to the overall broad concept being suggested here. Obviously if GDC and E3 come and go and we see and hear nothing than it's a bunch of crap and we move on. Valve were ambitious pioneers with Steam way back in 2004. This has the potential makings of being another ambitious and possibly pioneering move by them yet again. If basically set themselves up as the Android of the entire gaming world that's huge for them. If nothing…

Recently I had been toying with the idea of streaming and making videos, but had been dragging my feet on actually starting... Then around a week ago I was watching elybeatmaker, a streamer I enjoy, and he decided to raid me when he finished. Ended up being an absolute blast and I think I was actually decent at it. Figured this might be a good way to reconnect with some of the friends I've left behind along the way and rekindle/reapply some of my previous 'obsessions'. Not to say that I don't listen to music anymore, but I'm not as picky as I once was and tend to spin vinyl with the kids on some modest speakers while the ThunderCougerFalconBi... *ahem* McAlister Au…

This is one of the most amazing pieces of freeware that I've run across in ages. It's not for everyone but I think that for those of you that like it, will like it a lot. You can download it here for both pc and mac osx.

Well, just wondering if anybody watched E3 this year. Not the craziest year, but Final Fantasy XIII going to the 360 is a pretty big deal. There was some cool stuff from the developers too. If anybody watched it, what did you think?

Continuum Not sure if anyone here has heard this, I started playing in 2001 and still log on every once in a while, it's that kind of game. Either you will hate it or want to get good - there is a fairly steep learning curve. Try playing in the zone Extreme-games. Figured I have enjoyed this for a while, might as well pass it on.

This is probably the best game I've played on the PS3 so far. It's challenging and very rewarding to play. It feels like the old kings field games on the ps1 but way more polished and refined. As a warning I'll tell you that it's very hard and you'll die a lot. If you're easily frustrated by games like ninja gaiden on the xbox then you'll probably throw your controller a couple of times.

This is as cool as can be, and something I know that Shell will love. It's just amazing to me how it works. Watch the 3 videos for the math and such. http://www.loop-the-game.com/ So I got interested and emailed the guy for pricing. Turns out they're quite expensive, not surprising since they're handmade and quite tricky to get just right. Cost is £15,000 plus shipping. Gulp.

  20. Hey guys, would love it if any of you could stop by and give me a follow tonight, almost have my affiliate status and it should be a really fun stream unless my day turns to shit. Got my new graphics card installed, so I'll be playing with shaders for most of it I think. https://www.twitch.tv/philodox42/schedule?seriesID=073e4ee5-b0b8-4d5e-8193-58a4efc5a65a

2011 looks like it's going to be another busy year for great games and in the next month or so I'll be looking at getting: Killzone 3, Bulletstorm, Dragon Age 2, Dawn of War II: Retribution and maybe Homefront. What games are you guys looking forward to picking up this year?
