RIP Marie Cogan, who passed away at midnight at age 93. My oldest brother married Marie's wonderful daughter Jill when I was about 15 or 16. Marie was a great woman who lost her only son Jack to AIDS, her husband John to Alzheimers, and her only daughter Jill to cancer. They were such a great and close family who fully supported Jack and his partner regardless of their traditional Catholic beliefs. John and Marie moved to California from New Jersey after losing Jack so that they could be near Jill and my brother and their four kids. Marie never became bitter or defeated even with all the loss she suffered and was a great grandmother who happily got to see her first great grandson born to my oldest nephew and his wife last year. She loved her chardonnay so I am going to open a bottle this evening to toast the long life of a tough old gal.4 points

Going to see Steven Wilson at The Grove in Anaheim on June 12th. I have not been to a concert in a long time, and I am psyched as he will play pretty much all of Hand. Cannot. Erase. from what I can see. Brilliant album.2 points

I just got my watch and, so far, am having a lot of fun with it. I know that's not necessary the point, but for me, it is. Well worth the money for the entertainment value alone. Tomorrow will be my first full day with it, so I should settle in and stop bugging everyone I know to call me while we're in the same room. No. I think I'll still do that. Can anyone tell me how to switch out of celsius in the weather app?2 points

Among the many horror stories that we read about JH Audio, it's nice to have a good one every once in a while. My Roxys are some of the earlier units, so they came with the cable with the plastic nut that apparently breaks if you simply look at it. At one point they eventually did crack, so Corbyn pulled some strings and managed to send a new one to my sister who was in the US at the time, but leaving on the next day. However, a few days after I received it the connection started to break on the earloop, cutting the treble drivers. I couldn't be bothered to ask for a new one to be sent to Brazil as it figured it would be too much of a hassle so I went back to the old cable, because even though the nuts had cracked it worked fine. Last week it started breaking the connection on the TRS plug, so I emailed JH Audio about the issue expecting to burn a $65 + shipping + taxes hole in my wallet as the cables have no warranty. However, Angie simply asked for my address and sent it via FedEx on Monday. It's going to arrive today, and even though I will have to pay taxes (no way around it with FedEx), it's just 25 bucks and I got it in no time without having to pay for the cable or the shipping. Welcome surprise!1 point

Most of these connectors are rated to an AC voltage so the DC voltage will be much higher. If you want to go a bit cheaper then the Chinese Y2 connectors on ebay are pretty nice. Far from Amphenol quality but at a fraction of the price. For the Megatron's I'm planning it will be Fischer or other such insanity. Also, who says you can't build a KGSSHV which fits on a desk? Yes and yes.1 point

We finally broke through the game 3 road curse! Crawford rolled all night and Kaner is still at 1 ppg for playoff career with 120+ games.1 point

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Last week I ordered a Bull Belt from Saddleback. It arrived today and is outstanding. It creaks like a saddle, I kid you not.1 point

I've been listening to this all day, and I hear something different every time I listen to it -- now it's neo-folk/neo-classical, and I don't hear any Sigur Ros, so ... I don't know what to tell you -- here is a link so you can stream it and decide for yourself, but it's really quite nice, that's about all I can say consistently: linkydink. I already ordered the vinyl.1 point

It will be tough for me to contribute to this thread because ...I have too many suggestions. For over 13 years, I have been listening to SomaFM's Groove Salad. Via GS, I discovered the brilliant minimalism of Aspen, the atmosphere of All India Radio [EDIT: URL got munched] (my most listened-to artist on last.fm, with over 5000 plays), the synth pop of 2raumwohnung and a legion of others. This was the song I heard on Groove Salad that got me in to 2raumwohnung. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofp9zDbTF01 point

How tight are your freakin pants? I am a wallet snob, I will admit I compare my wallet to other guys wallets in lines at stores when paying. Used to have some competition in NYC, guys in DC are all bums.1 point
