  2. Just came back from Steven Wilson -- that was fantastic. They played the entirety of Hand. Cannot. Erase. (except for Transience) interspersed with Raven, Watchmaker, Index, Harmony Korine, Lazarus, and a couple others. Lots of multimedia stuff (I'm almost at the point where I don't want to hear Raven without the video), and fantastic playing, especially by Nick Beggs and Adam Holzman. The guitarist was fantastic, and the drummer was spot on (although not Gavin...although no-one is). Darn near perfection. Slightly different setlist -- my friend in the UK went, they played the entire album first, then all the other stuff after. Here, they played up to about Home Invasion, then shifted to Index and played a bunch of other stuff, then played the rest of the album, then played Watchmaker, and then Raven as the final encore. EDIT: Didn't get the sequencing exactly right. Setlist. Really cute girl next to me, too. Alone...wearing a Marillion T-shirt (indicating that she genuinely likes prog, for those that don't know -- a genre I am very fond of). I left her alone, though, it'd probably be creepy being asked by a guy 2ce her age for her phone number...dagnabit. Sometimes I hate being me.

  4. I didn't think it was going to be nearly as much work as it was to prepare this whole meal, but I made rib-eyes with shisito pepper sauce, wild king salmon with yogurt sauce and skin cracklins, and potato/onion/bacon skewers (with a veggie option substituting zucchini). I was rushed with these pics, but you'll get the idea. Steak pulled off the grill and sliced (hopefully not too well done for Shelly!) Two of three steaks with blistered peppers and sauce, ready to serve This is actually a beautiful 2.8 lb fillet of wild king salmon with sumac seasoning, although you cannot perceive its glory from this image The salmon was served with a greek yogurt, fresh chives, dill and grilled scallion sauce As well as salmon skin cracklins that are awesome as a topping Lastly, other than a salad brought by my brother-in-law, was the potato/onion/bacon skewers and veggie alternative (not pictured) Quick pic of my plate before setting upon it

  8. That psu is just one of many BH variants that I've drawn up over the years. 500V input caps and 450V output caps. You can get it through with some care (that's what she said.... ) but a drill does help. Just make sure to deburr...

  10. the fact is that unless i use piles of NC machines to make stuff (in which case i'm not really making it) birgir and justin do a way better job of assembly. I just don't have the patience.

  11. Let's see: orders from CDJapan, Acoustic Sounds, jpc, two large lots on eBay and aardvark-allotment-of-amazement. Should be set for a while.

  12. I don't know. I heard about a newbie named birgir wilson who was labeled Mother Of Treachery on another site and so pretty much got banned for spelling technical words correctly. Maybe it's the same bloke who's copying kevin carbon.

  14. Thanks for the report, Dusty. I. Cannot. Wait. (sorry, just had to) If it makes you feel better, my wife and I have almost no overlap when it comes to musical taste. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if she did like the stuff I liked. By the way, you have such an eclectic musical taste, I'm sure whoever you find will like something you are into

  15. No, assuming everything is perfect and no fakes and proper resistors in the batteries. My view is that in the case of a T2 it is worth less partially assembled than the parts alone... troubleshooting could potentially take as long as the entire build if something is amiss... and I am guessing that almost complete chassis isn't plug'n play.

  17. Good to hear everyone made it through. Tornados are one part of the midwest I don't miss. Me? I bought a boatload of tubes. And some transformers.

  19. Yup, it's a modushop chassis. I'm just about done with them and will have to move into custom stuff. Using these is a bit like building on sand... Anyway, here it is with the toroid I was forced to install after the R-cores were DOA. It's all attached to the top panel which does make things tricky. Aside from some slight transformer noise it runs perfectly and doesn't get too hot. Here is is running on the bench:
