Tomato, egg and cheese waffle sandwich from Wicked Waffles. Colin/Dusty they have a shredded Peking duck, crispy skin hoisin and plum sauce sandwich as well.
Appears to have been worth the effort, Al. 14 hour layover in Seoul, and who do I run into but jinp6301. And some food. Now drinking in the airport lounge. 12 hours and I'll be home!
This Brazilian feijoada style black bean stew was more complicated than I thought, but with prime Angus beef, bacon, chorizo and Canadian bacon it sure is tasty.
I have some issues about all of this besides the retarded price and the utter certainty of the amp being shit. First off is having the amps in the earcups, good idea in many ways but mosfet output? I don't know of any SMD mosfets with low output capacitance which is crucial. 200pf into a 50pf (just guessing) will make this sound worse than the Cavalli crap and that says a lot. Before people jump to and say that Sennheiser wouldn't do that... well they did in both the HEV90 and the HEV70. Sure it was the tubes in the 90 but still the same applies. I have the strange sensation that I will change one of these to a bloody Stax plug in the future so it can be driven properly... Going by the stuff I get asked to do all the time it wouldn't be a shock.
At the very least, I'd get someone to set up a double blind test so I could be sure the thing sounds at least different, if not better, than something cheaper.
And Occam's Razor suggests to me that you just don't like the 009's.
If you want mine for a week or so its all yours as long as you don't mind dropping it back in Sausalito. You can pick it up from me Saturday at the SF meet.
This is my progress so far. Waiting for the caps. Rest is more or less done. To answer some questions before they are asked: My transformer has 15-0-15 and 2x 18vac windings, because I was undecided which lv psu to use, when i ordered it. As you can see, I have decided which one to use, and connected the 15-0-15 just to prevent the wires from dangling around. I will clean up the transformer wires when I finish it. Any other questions are welcome ;-)
Stretch is smarter, richer, and handsomer than me. You should listen to him before me. That said, were I in your position I would do some soul searching and find a way to convince myself that I liked another, cheaper thing better.
I say go for it if it makes you happy. There's no end to the debate about relative value -- only you can decide what's worth it to you. Also kind of like the idea of a megabucks DAC in a headphone rig.
OK, my chassis is finished. (My homage to Steampunk.) Just DON'T remind me how long this has taken!
A few minor tweeks, including tightening the legs up, then I can start soldering. Another 6 months maybe?? No point rushing these things, and, to be fair, I'm only after that longest build prize.
@‌dmkbox No, this is not a kit!
