I'm sitting here remembering the joy and pride I felt about this time last year, standing with Colin, Brent, Shelly, Claire and others, as we watched the Gay Pride parade in San Francisco, just days after the Supreme Court announced it's decision on gay marriage. I couldn't stop tearing up (Brent too), as I watched something I never believed I'd witness in my lifetime. I couldn't help but think we'd turned a corner. Tonight I'm wrapping my mind around the fact that this nation's deadliest mass shooting incident has targeted gay men and women in Orlando. Over 50 gay men and women dead, massacered while celebrating gay pride, in a gay nightclub. A place where we generally feel safe, accepted and at ease. The sadness in my heart is almost overwhelming. It again feels like one step forward, two steps back. I can reason that this is the act of one deranged individual, but it feels like I let my guard down. It does comfort me that this time we have a President that will stand up and condemn this an act of hate against the gay community. It's no surprise that Donald Trump is already using the tragedy to re-emphasize his message of hate against the Muslim community, and that enrages me! I should probably refrain from using this event to express my own political views, but how many more mass shootings are we going to have to endure before we make some real changes in the way we offer up weapons for these assholes to use to slaughter us? Just so, so sad, and so disappointed right now.6 points

I, too, am at a loss for words. RIP to my fellow countrymen and -women. I hope we figure out a response to this psychopathy soon.2 points

By the way, there is a ER4 upgrade option on this page. "For a limited time you may upgrade from the ER4 microPro Earphones to the ER4SR or ER4XR Earphones. Details available soon." http://www.etymotic.com/consumer/earphones/er4-new.html2 points

Well put Steve. I feel that the US has come such a long way in the last 25 years and then something like this happens.2 points

I'm taking Zoe and her friend to the Panic! At The Disco/Weezer concert (while I am attending the Weezer/PATD concert). I want to get some earplugs for everyone. I can handle the Ety ones, but not sure if they could. Are there any good "musician" or "concert" ear plugs you guys recommend? Are the ER-20s still worth getting, or would I want something better? (Zoe and her friend won't use them much, but I could use them at band rehearsal/other concerts, so I could go with something a little more long term.) Oh, and referably something I can get locally or through Amazon, so I can have them here before Thursday's show. Thanks. **BRENT**1 point

Would it be weird for Mike and Deb to adopt a 55 y.o. malnourished Son? OK, malnourished might possibly be a tiny bit of a stretch.1 point

I beg to differ. Stupid people never realize they are stupid, they always blame others for their stupidiocity.1 point

Sorry Chris, my vote is that you do it (it will not take long) and let them realize how stupid it is.1 point

The Etys work great. I even use the small ones with our 4 and 3 year olds1 point

The ER-20 earplugs are rebranded as a lot of other things. To my (admittedly deteriorating) ears, all the tri-flange ones sound similar, so just get one of those at CVS or Guitar Center. Oh, and: JH13.1 point

Sorry to hear you lost someone you knew in Orlando, Knucks. Hard to think what to say in the face of all this senselessness, especially after Steve's thoughtful comments. Mostly I wish that I could believe this was the last act of hate or terror for even this horrible year or month or week or just one day, but the fucktard from Indiana arrested on his way to the Hollywood pride parade yesterday with a bunch of guns and maybe IED makings was an extra punch in the gut. WTF people.1 point

I haven't tried them, but judging from the isolation their tips provide, these are probably worth a try http://www.complyfoam.com/products/comply-foam-plugs/1 point

i was just asked to put a java text scroller on our homepage to run our entire meeting program. people are always eager to read droves of data in a 200 pixel wide square. why not. why is everyone so fucking stupid?1 point

I have the HF5's and they are quite nice. Silly level of isolation and perfect for casual music listening. Funny story about them, my regular walks usually take me through the grounds of the presidential residence. This is Iceland so no guards but the presidents chauffeur stopped me a while back for a chat (we know each other enough to say hi). He said "I tried calling for you yesterday but you didn't reply. I thought you were so full of yourself that you didn't want to chat!" I showed him the HF5's and just how much they isolate...1 point

I completely agree Tmoney. How do you kick someone square in the nuts in the previous series and not get suspended, but get a suspension for this. It's just a make-up for the earlier fouls, plain and simple. Lebron has become such a whiney bitch these days, it's really easy for me to root against him. I think GS will show up big tonight and take it at home, because Cleveland has just been demoralized by these guys.1 point

It's saddening to see that hate and intolerance can lead the lives of so many people around the world. It's specially sad when this happens in civilized and developed countries ending with so many human lives. We have a long way to go yet.1 point

Thanks guys! As to the sound, I’ve had a fairly good listen now, I can confidently say It’s a good improvement in performance from the KGSSHV’s and BHSE I have on hand. I’ve always maintained the BHSE and KGSSHV were a similar calibre, with different signatures depending on your taste and music genre. Interestingly I find myself in the same scenario with the Carbon and the T2, I don’t prefer one over the other, both have slight contrasting differences. To be crude and simplistic, the Carbon has transparency and the T2 sweetness and tone, but both amps do everything exceptionally well. The Carbon is unquestionably the most stable amp in my arsenal, do we need servos on the next board runs?1 point

Well done jose. I was going to post these images in the builds thread but it’s missing in action. Thanks to Kevin and Birgir for being awesome. Thanks to Michael (mw168) for all the work you’ve put in with the group buys and documenting etc it’s been very helpful. A couple KGSSHV Carbon amps running 400V @ 20ma, GRLV supplies, SUMR transformers.1 point
